<a name="more"></a>Former <a href="http://www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/adam-johnson-trial">England footballer Adam Johnson</a> is facing up to 10 years in jail after being found guilty of sexual activity with a child.<br />
Johnson, 28, had already admitted grooming and kissing a 15-year-old girl but denied two more serious counts of sexual activity with a child.<br />
The ex-Sunderland star was found guilty on one count involving penetration but was cleared of a second.<br />
A judge warned him a prison sentence is &#8220;almost inevitable&#8221; and the starting point for his offences is five years.<br />

<p>These are the WhatsApp messages uncovered by police which led Adam Johnson to admit grooming a 15-year-old fan.<br />
Johnson&#8217;s victim was a schoolgirl who worshipped Sunderland, especially their winger whose name and number 11 she had on the back of her replica shirt.<br />
The day after posing for pictures with Johnson outside the Stadium of Light, the schoolgirl added him on Facebook on December 31, 2014.<br />
Within just a few messages Johnson asked for the schoolgirl&#8217;s mobile phone number.<br />
The pair then went on to exchange 834 WhatsApp messages over the next two months.</p>

Adam Johnson’s ex-girlfriend Stacey Flounders also got into the people carrier. In contrast to her previous appearances at Bradford Crown Court, she appeared reluctant to be pictured.<br />
The 26-year-old mum put her hands over her face as she sat alongside the now-convicted paedophile.</p>

<p>On the first day of messaging, Johnson questioned the girl about her age.<br />
He asked: <i>&#8220;Are you in last year of school?&#8221;</i><br />
The girl confirmed she was in Year 10 and later talked about being too young to get into bars and nightclubs.<br />
Johnson added: <i>&#8220;Haha but yeh you look old enough. When you 16?&#8221;</i><br />
The victim added she wouldn&#8217;t be 16 until later in the year.<br />
Johnson replied: <i>&#8220;Ages then. LOL&#8221;</i><br />
Within the message thread, Johnson offered to meet the girl to present her with a signed football shirt.<br />
The pair met on January 17 &#8211; 18 days after they first started texting &#8211; in a car park behind a Chinese takeaway in County Durham.<br />
Within those 18 days, Johnson had become a father.</p>

<p>His partner Stacey Flounders gave birth to their first child, a baby girl, on January 8.<br />
The schoolgirl got into Johnson&#8217;s Range Rover and was given a signed Sunderland shirt. The meeting lasted little more than 15 minutes.<br />
Johnson said he then dropped the girl off at a shop so she could buy &#8216;sweets or something&#8217;.<br />
Within hours Johnson was messaging the girl again, after she text to thank him for the shirt.<br />
He text: <i>&#8220;You owe me. I thought I would have got a thank you kiss for the shirt.&#8221;</i><br />
The schoolgirl said: <i>&#8220;Haha. It will be.&#8221;</i><br />
Johnson responded: <i>&#8220;Confident aren&#8217;t you? Am I only getting a kiss?&#8221;</i><br />
The schoolgirl replied: <i>&#8220;Depends on what else you&#8217;re after?&#8221;</i><br />
Johnson wrote back: &#8221; <i>I dunno, it depends what you are up for.. a little bit more than a kiss.</i><br />
<b>&#8220;</b> <i>A bit of feeling. Just see. No pressure. Lol.&#8221;</i><br />
Tellingly, Johnson then added <i>: &#8220;Keep deleting our convos.&#8221;</i><br />
