<p class="mol-para-with-font">A former girlfriend of controversial Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has claimed she had threesomes with him and some of his female colleagues.<br />
Retired federal prosecutor Lillian McEwen, who is now 70, dated Thomas for seven years before he married.<br />
She told Inside Edition that the Supreme Court Justice &#8211; whose nomination in 1991 was plagued by allegations that he sexually harassed his assistant &#8211; had threesomes with her and other women.</p>

&#8216;He recruited women that he worked with for participation in those threesomes,&#8217; she added. The alleged threesomes took place before he joined the Supreme Court.<br />
Thomas, who still sits on the Supreme Court bench aged 67, was nominated by President George H. W. Bush in 1991.<br />
During Thomas&#8217; televised confirmation hearings in 1991, his former assistant Anita Hill alleged that he sexually harassed her while she worked for him at the Department of Education&#8217;s Office for Civil Rights. He fought his way through the claims and scraped the senate confirmation by 52 to 48.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Ms McEwen was speaking ahead of the release of Confirmation, a HBO movie about the hearings. She believes Ms Hill, who is played by Kerry Washington in the senate drama, is &#8216;a woman scorned&#8217;.<br />
&#8216;She didn&#8217;t tell the truth and he didn&#8217;t tell the truth either,&#8217; the former federal prosecutor said.<br />
Ms Hill, who is a law professor at Brandeis University, told CBS&#8217; This Morning show that in 2010 &#8211; 19 years after the hearings &#8211; she received a voicemail from Thomas&#8217; wife, Virginia.<br />
&#8216;Good morning, Anita Hill, its Ginni Thomas. I just wanted to reach across the airways and the years,&#8217; the answerphone message said.<br />
&#8216;I would love you to consider an apology sometime and some full explanation of why you did what you did with my husband.&#8217;<br />
Ms Hill, now 59, said she initially thought it was a joke.<br />
&#8216;I couldn&#8217;t believe that the wife of a Supreme Court Justice would be calling me,&#8217; she said.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Ms Hill told Today earlier this week that she has come to terms with what happened.<br />
&#8216;I&#8217;m really at peace with my role in history,&#8217; she said. &#8216;I don&#8217;t think I really have to become at peace with him being on the Supreme Court.<br />
&#8216;I think what we have to do though, is to understand why my testimony and my experience &#8211; why that was so important to the integrity of the court, and why it spoke directly to the character of the nominee at the time.&#8217;<br />
She also shared what kind of questions Washington, who is the film&#8217;s executive producer, asked her when they met.<br />
&#8216;Most importantly I think she just wanted to know not only how I felt during the confirmation hearing, but what was I thinking.<br />
&#8216;And that was really encouraging to have someone wanting to know what was my thinking pattern, what was going through my mind during this whole episode.&#8217;</p>
