<p>Retired fertility doctor, Donald Cline, is facing charges after allegedly using his own sperm to impregnate his patients at his clinic. He is accused of inseminating patients with his own sperm, resulting in his potentially fathering up to 50 children.<br />
77-year-old Cline, is alleged to have used his own semen on females at his clinic when he &#8216;ran out&#8217; of his usually supply. He surrendered to the court during an initial hearing, Monday and was charged with two felony counts of obstruction of justice, after telling an investigator that he never inseminated his patients with his own sperm.<br />
Prosecutors say Cline’s alleged use of his sperm to inseminate his female patients was exposed by a series of DNA tests a practice that may have occurred more than 50 times.<br />

In the course of DNA testing, a woman found she was related to at least eight other people tested by the same service. The tests also revealed that this group of siblings are genetically related to 70 of Cline&#8217;s relatives, with the closest match being the doctor&#8217;s first cousin.<br />
It has been suggested Cline, who retired in 2009, responded to the attorney general&#8217;s office in a letter in January 2015 saying he got donor sperm from resident doctors and dentists between 1971 and 1981.<br />
He said he had a policy not to use a donor for more than three successful pregnancies.<br />
&#8220;I can emphatically say that at no time did I ever use my own sample for insemination,&#8221; Cline wrote in the letter.</p>

A number of websites helped the siblings, all of whom were born in the late 1970s through mid-1980s, piece together the story behind their conception. The siblings used 23andMe.com and Ancestry.com for DNA testing and research, and the Donor Offspring, Parent &; Sibling Registry, a website where donors and offspring can search for genetic relatives. Then, they wondered, if the doctor or one of his relatives was their father. After a sibling contacted Cline&#8217;s family through Facebook, some of the siblings met with Cline in spring 2016.<br />
However, according to the probable cause affidavit, Cline apparently told one of his biological daughters that he felt pressured to use his own sperm when he did not have access to donor sperm. It is alleged, he he only donated sperm nine or 10 times. He told the siblings he would just trying to help people have babies and that now that he has found God, he recognizes that he what he did was wrong because he hurt people, say the claims.<br />
One of the siblings told <a class="" href="http://fox59.com/author/angela-ganote/">Fox59</a>. “It was unethical what he did. He was telling his patients one thing and doing another,”<br />
“I want to find out as much truth as I can but I know deep down that we never will know the complete truth as to how many siblings we do have.”<br />
Hearing is scheduled for October 17.</p>
