Trump says the chat was ‘locker room banter’

Unconventional presidential nominee Donald Trump has been repeatedly criticized over his attitude towards women which some see as contributing to the negative gender gap he has with his rival, democratic nominee, former Secretary Of state, Hilary Clinton. The trend seems likely to continue as a lewd video has emerged which caught Donald Trump boasting about groping women, claiming ‘when you’re a star… you can do anything’.

The clip, filmed in 2005 has Trump chatting with Access Hollywood presenter Billy Bush. Apparently Bush accompanied the billionaire real estate tycoon to a soap opera set.
In the video taken just a few months after he married wife number three, Melania, the GOP candidate can be heard claiming he ‘moved’ on an unnamed woman, but she rejected him.

The scene opens with just audio of the two chatting, with both men’s microphones switched on. Donald Trump can be heard saying: “I did try and f*** her. She was married.
“And I moved on her very heavily. In fact, I took her out furniture shopping. She wanted to get some furniture.
“I said, ‘I’ll show you where they have some nice furniture.’ I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn’t get there. And she was married.”
Both men can then be heard gasping over another woman, thought to be actress Arianne Zucker, who arrives to meet the pair.
At this point Trump is heard saying: “I’ve gotta use some tic tacs, just in case I start kissing her.

“You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait.”
“And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything.
“Grab them by the p****. You can do anything.”
A statement from Mr Trump said: “This was locker room banter, a private conversation that took place many years ago.
“Bill Clinton has said far worse to me on the golf course – not even close. I apologize if anyone was offended.” Although the republican nominee has repeatedly had his foot in his mouth over his misogyny, particularly comments towards women, throughout his presidential campaign, however up until now, he’s never been caught out in anything this close to outright endorsement of sexual assault or molestation.

Jill Harth.pngFormer Trump business associate Jill Harth, in a 1977 lawsuit, claimed the GOP candidate grabbed her crotch. She later withdrew the suit, but insists her accusation is true.

If true, Trump’s insistence that his physical advances on women are desired and justified no matter what the circumstance  ties in with an earlier assertion by former business partner, Jill Harth.
In a July interview with the Guardian newspapers, Harth accused Trump’ of sexual assault explaining that she believed Trump felt entitled to assault her.  Harth first made the allegation in a 1997 lawsuit, and though she eventually dropped the suit, she’s stood by her story for the last 20 years, recounting it earlier this year in a taped interview.
Speaking with the Guardian’s Lucia Graves in their New York offices, she claimed that one time Trump did,  grab her crotch.
“He had his hands all over me and tried to get up my dress again”. Harth said: “He was aggressive and he has a sense of entitlement and he thinks everyone is in love with him.”
