The woman had been brutally stabbed before her apartment was set alight&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Two college students&comma; Alberto Medina and Eric Marquez&comma; both 23&comma; were arrested a few days later in connection to DelVesco&&num;8217&semi;s killing&period; In March of this year&comma; both men were ordered to stand trial in the case&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;&&num;8216&semi;If they had gone into the apartment&comma; maybe Andrea would be alive today&comma;&&num;8217&semi; the victim’s mother&comma; claims his clients were not to blame for Andrea DelVesco’s murder&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Ricos said that Sudduth and Williams exercised due diligence in searching the exterior of the building but concluded there was insufficient evidence of a crime to begin knocking on doors and waking up tenants&period;<&sol;div>&NewLine;<div>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"mol-para-with-font">The attorney maintains that knocking on DelVesco&&num;8217&semi;s door would not have saved her because &&num;8216&semi;she was dead before the officers got there&period;&&num;8217&semi;<br &sol;>&NewLine;But the victim&&num;8217&semi;s family questioned the lawyer&&num;8217&semi;s assertions&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;&&num;8216&semi;We’ll never know if when they responded to the initial 911 call&comma; in part&comma; that the department &&num;8216&semi;took swift action to hold Department personnel accountable for mistakes made in the initial stages of the investigation&period;&&num;8217&semi;<br &sol;>&NewLine;At 6&period;18am on September 21&comma; 2015&comma; a 911 dispatch center got a call from Sarah Muhr who said she heard screams and the sounds of a dog barking and whimpering seemingly coming from the unit directly beneath her apartment&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The woman&comma; among them Sudduth and Williams&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The two veteran cops interviewed Muhr about what she heard and witnessed that morning and then proceeded to inspect the exterior of the apartment complex&comma; checking doors and windows for signs of a break-in&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Sudduth wrote in his report that he saw his partner shine a flashlight into Andrea DelVesco&&num;8217&semi;s bedroom and living room&comma; She was murdered just days before she was due in court to answer for charges she possessed meth&comma; mushrooms&comma; ecstasy and LSD with an intent to distribute<&sol;strong><&sol;h6>&NewLine;<p class&equals;"mol-para-with-font">All four officers then got back in their patrol vehicles and left&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;A short time later&comma; Sarah Muhr said she heard a loud bang from DelVesco&&num;8217&semi;s apartment&period; She looked outside and saw the same man she had seen earlier jumping from her neighbor&&num;8217&semi;s balcony&period; She also saw flames pouring out of DelVesco&&num;8217&semi;s bedroom&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Muhr dialed 911 again&comma; 40 minutes after placing the first call&comma; and was asked to repeat the description of the suspect she had given earlier that morning&period; She asked the dispatcher to send over an ambulance&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;It took more than 30 firefighters about 15 minutes to put out the blaze inside DelVesco&&num;8217&semi;s apartment&comma; which was equipped with working smoke alarms&comma; a Chihuahua-terrier mix&comma; suffered severe injuries in the fire and had to be put down&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;DelVesco was murdered just days before she was due in court to answer for charges she possessed meth&comma;
