Jesse Dobbs, arrested as a person of interest in a double homicide as well as the disappearance of his teenage girlfriend. Baytown police say he will be charged with murder in her death.
Dobbs, 21, was booked into jail Wednesday on a resisting arrest charge the day after authorities issued an Amber Alert for missing teenager, Kirsten Fritch.
Tuesday morning, police found Fritch’s younger sister, Breanna Pavlicek, 13, and their mom, Cynthia Morris, 37, dead with gunshot wounds in the family’s Baytown house.
Investigators had been frantically searching the area near the Shenanigan’s Bar in Texas City looking for 16-year-old Kirsten Fritch.
Authorities issued an amber alert for Fritch after her mother and younger sister were found dead in their Baytown home. Police immediately flagged her boyfriend Dobbs as a person of interest in the case. Investigators arrested Jesse Dobbs outside of the bar early Wednesday morning.
According to police sources, Dobbs is refusing to cooperate and won’t give them any information on Fritch’s whereabouts.
“We need her home,” said Fritch’s grandmother, Barbara DeRamus. “This is a mother and grandmother’s worst nightmare.”
Dobbs started dating Fritch after they met online and moved into the family’s house, according to DeRamus. She says Fritch’s mother wanted him out.
“He just seemed like a lowlife,” she said. “I thought what was Kirsten doing with this idiot.”
“Based on our investigation thus far and conversations with Mr. Dobbs we believe that he may have knowledge of the homicide and the whereabouts of Kirsten Fritch, however, Mr. Dobbs refused to provide us with details of either,” Baytown police said in a statement.
Dobbs struggled with officers who detained him at Shenanigan’s Bar in nearby Texas City, Tex., early Wednesday. Police identified him on Wednesday as a person of interest rather than a suspect in the ongoing investigation.
Search teams continued to look for Fritch Thursday near the bar and elsewhere in the coastal city roughly 45 miles southeast of Houston. Investigators in Texas City said they located Morris’ white PT Cruiser, which also went missing from the family’s Baytown home Tuesday morning.
Officers discovered Morris, 37, and her daughter Breanna Pavilicek, 13, fatally shot in the home after Morris’ mother alerted police she couldn’t reach them.
Detectives said the door to the family’s home was unlocked and the two victims had each suffered at least one gunshot wound. Their bodies were in a room in the back of the Louise St. home.
Kirsten’s grandmother Barbara DeRamus told local TV station, KHOU-TV Kirsten started dating Dobbs after meeting him online. Dobbs eventually moved in with the family despite misgivings from Kirsten’s lfamily, DeRamus said.
“We need her home,” DeRamus said. “This is a mother and grandmother’s worst nightmare.”
The amber alert described Kirsten as 5-foot-1, 135 pounds with brown hair and green eyes, Baytown police promised to announce any updates in the investigation as soon as possible
