Felicia Barahona was a 32-year-old science teacher at Dewitt Clinton High School in the Bronx in 2012 when she was impregnated by an 18-year-old student who she discouraged him from using condoms. She was found dead along with her son, Mondays. She had been dead for a while
A former New york city school teacher fired four years ago, after she was impregnated by an 17-year-old student was found dead in her Harlem apartment Monday along with her 4-year-old son, both had been dead for some time.
Following a call in by the super of her apartment bulding, NYPD officers found Felicia Barahona, 36, lying on the living room floor of her apartment with an electrical cord wrapped around her neck about 8:15 a.m., sources said.
Her son, Miguel, believed to be the child she had with her former student lover, was found drowned in the bathtub.
Another resident reported a foul odor coming from the unit, the building’s super then called 911 after he went on the fire escape and saw the Barahona lying on the floor through the window.
Cops estimate the mother’s body had been there between three and four days.
The super last saw her alive Wednesday.
The city Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy of Barahona and Miguel.
Barahona, an Afghanistan war veteran, was a teacher at DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx when she had a four-month affair with student and was fired subsequently from her $73,000 teaching job for having a romantic fling with a 17-year-old student.
The science teacher first struck up a relationship with the boy when he was 15, but waited two years until his 17th birthday to have intercourse.
The relationship allegedly, started during fall 2011 and grew into a four-month sex roundevous where the pair had intimate encounters “about five times a week, on weekdays and on weekends,” the report said.
The Special Commissioner of Investigation reported that when the student asked if he could use condoms she told him she “didn’t like condoms” and “not to worry” .
Oddly, Barahona dressed the new baby in pink and described him as a girl in Facebook photos from 2013.
She reportedly,was so in love with him, she even bought wedding rings for both of them in the hope that they would marry and when Barahona found out she was pregnant, her teen lover went along to doctors’ appointments. They star-struck lovers broke up after an argument in early 2012, before Miguel was born.
Barahona gave birth to a baby boy in August 2012 and was fired, officials said.
The bodies are removed by officials from the coroner’s office for autopsy
Acquintances and neighbors recall that Barahona oddly, dressed the new baby in pink and described him as a girl in Facebook photos from 2013. Neighbors on Monday recalled Barahona as “strange” and unfriendly, and little Miguel as a rambunctious but intelligent child who loved to play with his train set in the hallway.
The former high school teacher who describes herself as “divorced” on her Facebook page, which also features the tragic woman’s favorite quote: “Never give up!” also has an 8-year-old daughter.
