A burglar got more than he bargained for and a jackhammer blow to the face after breaking into the home of trained Jiu-Jitsu in Fort Myers, Florida
Lee County Deputies said Josue Ortiz snuck into the open garage on Tuesday, and started loading tools into his car.
Brian Burch told police he heard someone scuffling around outside his home and went out into his garage to investigate, only to find Ortiz standing in his garage carrying his jackhammer case and airgun case.
“He told me that the boss sent him over here to pick up tools to finish a job,” Burch told NBC 2.
The disbelieving home owner Burch wasn’t buying the thief’s outlandish story, and when the intruder tried to run away Burch, a trained martial arts expert, put his Jiu-Jitsu skills to use.

“I was holding him down,” he said. “Once we got to the ground, he started pushing and fighting me, and I hit him one time.”
Ortiz came out of the scuffle with a broken nose, swollen lip and bruised eye.
A neighbor witnessed the two men fighting and called police. Burch said he held the banged-up burglar down until officers arrived.
“They told him he got exactly what he deserved,” Burch said. “I’m just glad he’s not on the street anymore and can’t hit anybody else’s home.”
Burch’s neighbors are also thankful for his martial arts skills.
“The fact that he manhandled him maybe, I think it’s well deserved,” said one neighbor, Darlene Donovan.
The bungling thief is currently in the Lee County jail. he has been charged with grand theft and burglary.
