<p>A feces and blood smeared letter demanded an apology from the mother of a Brooklyn man jailed for the rape and murder of a Queens jogger, Karina Vetrano.</p>

<article id="ra-body">Veta Lewis, whose son Chanel was arrested Feb. 4 in the murder of 30-year-old Vetrano, said she found the California post-marked letter waiting Wednesday at her Brooklyn home.</p>

<p>“It said for her to apologize for what her son did and return all the money back she received from GoFundMe,” said the Rev. Kevin McCall, the family’s spokesman.<br />
Veta Lewis immediately called police to file a report and an investigation was opened, said McCall.<br />
The NYPD confirmed the Lewis family filed an aggravated harassment complaint, and said the probe was continuing.<br />
A “reddish-brown substance” was found on the paper, according to police sources. But cops said the complaint filed with police made no mention of the fund-raising website.<br />
&#8220;We want the NYPD to look in to this matter just like they would any other case,&#8221; said McCall.</p>

<p>The family’s attempt to raise money via GoFundMe was shut down earlier this month because the effort violated the company’s policy — no fund-raising allowed for alleged criminals or defense funds.<br />
Donors who kicked in $800 via GoFundMe all received their money back. A second crowdfunding effort using Fundly was suspended after a large number of complaints, according to the web site.</p>
