When Ranika Hall, 25, announced she would travel to South Florida for a Brazilian butt lift, her family urged her not to go through with the popular rear-reshaping surgery.
But Hall, a new mother, ignored her family’s advice because she was unhappy with her post-pregnancy body, NBC Miami reported.
“I tried to talk her out of it. I really did,” her mother, Nicole Hall, told the outlet. “Her sisters and her brothers tried to talk her out of it,” she said.

Heather Meadows dies after cosmetic procedure at Encore Plastic Surgery, the controversial Florida clinic

Hall scheduled the cosmetic procedure at Eres Plastic Surgery in Hialeah, the clinic where Heather Meadows died last year at 29 from the same procedure.
When Meadows died, the outfit was called Encore Plastic Surgery, and was under different ownership.
Encore and it’s affiliated network of storefront clinics were known to engage in deceptive practices resulting in patient injuries, according to local investigations.

Heather Meadows, 29, died May 12 following a Brazilian butt lift procedure at Encore Plastic Surgery, [now known as ERES]. Heather allegedly, died from fat clots that caused her organs to fail by blocking her arteries

On Thursday evening, Hall lost consciousness and stopped breathing, police said. She was declared dead at the hospital at about 10 p.m.
“It’s hard for me to grasp a hold of it,” Nicole Hall told the media outlet. “Unbelievable, like it’s not true,” she said. The grieving mother added that she is “looking for answers.”
Miami Florida has been described Florida based plastic surgeon, Dr. Adam Rubinstein  as being “like the Wild West for plastic surgery procedures,” Rubinstein said. “Unfortunately, the market is such that it’s caveat emptor. And most emptors don’t know how to caveat,” Dr. Rubinstein added.
The Brazilian butt-lift procedure, it has explained, involves a process whereby liposuction is implemented to harvest fat from elsewhere in the body which is then injected into the buttocks.
Potential risks include blood clots, hematoma, bruising, excessive blood loss, complications of anesthesia or liposuction, oil cyst and fat embolism.
The list of ‘to knows’ before prospective patients who desire to look like reality stars, embark on the journey down to Florida, is listed in this article by Miami based plastic surgeon Dr. Adam Rubinstein in the New York Post.

What to know if you’re considering a cosmetic surgery vacation

According to ERES Plastic Surgery’s website, the procedure costs a hugely cut rate price of $3500 and includes 12 areas of liposuction.
According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the number of buttocks augmentations of all kinds jumped by 86% between 2013 and 2014 and reached nearly 21,000 in 2016. The industry average price is estimated at $5,395.
The previous victim, Heather Meadows reportedly, died from fat clots that caused her organs to fail by blocking her arteries, Miami-Dade coroners concluded in an autopsy report.
Meadows, a 29-year-old mother of two from West Virginia, suffered cardiac arrest after her liposuction procedure May 12, according to her family’s lawsuit.
The suit accused Encore of negligence in Meadows’ care, as well as a later business name change designed to “hinder, delay and defraud creditors.”
“Not only do you have the death of this young lady, but now you have two children who will be affected the rest of their lives by this tragedy,” said the family’s lawyer, attorney Herb Borroto.
In the wake of the latest tragedy, Eres Plastic Surgery released a statement Friday expressing condolences.

Dr. Ismael Labrador was arrested in 2007 for hiring unlicensed doctors to perform procedures at his clinic
Dr Ismael Labrador, owner of Vanity Cosmetic Surgery and president of Encore Plastic Surgery,  arrested and charged by Miami-Dade police in 2007 after a months-long undercover investigation discovered he was employing unlicensed doctors and allowing them to perform procedures, including vaginal reconstruction, on patients. Labrador later settled the charges, paying a $30,000 fine, performing community service and accepting a reprimand.

Nicole Hall has created a GoFundMe campaign to cover the funeral expenses for her daughter.
“My beautiful daughter went to Miami, Fl to have a high profile procedure done which was take her fatty tissue out her stomach and placed elsewhere. My baby left Wednesday 3/15/17 perfectly fine and health which was the last time i talked to her and seen her,” she wrote on the campaign’s homepage.
As of Sunday the campaign had raised nearly $5,000.
Once again the activities of Ismael Labrador  come under scrutiny as Hialeah police, the Florida Department of Health, and the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s office are investigate the death of Ranika Hall. Will this trigger a permanent solution to the impunity of this butchery?
