<p>The boy&#8217;s remains of 7-year-old Adrian Jones were found in November 2015 near a barn on the rural property in Piper, outside of Kansas City, where Jones lived with his wife Heather and eight children ranging in ages from one to 11.<br />
The family reportedly lived in deplorable conditions Adrian&#8217;s maternal grandmother, Judy Conway, told the Kansas City Star on Friday that she felt &#8216;relieved&#8217; to hear about her former son-in-law&#8217;s guilty plea.<br />

According to court documents, Adrian died sometime between Sept. 18 and Oct. 4, 2015. His remains were found about months later in November, 2015.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">The other children reportedly lived in deplorable conditions. They were also home schooled, according to the <a class="" href="http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/crime/article114641128.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Kansas City Star</a>.<br />
Jones reportedly gained of custody of Adrian and his six sisters after breaking up with his ex-wife. Authorities removed the six young girls from the home, including the then 1-year-old daughter he shared with Heather. They were taken into in protective custody.<br />
Cops were initially responding to a domestic disturbance call to the home the day before Thanksgiving 2015 when they learned of a possible homicide.<br />
According to the police report Michael Jones was attacking his wife and firing a gun at her. Jones was arrested and later charged with aggravated battery and aggravated assault on both the wife and the children in connection with that disturbance.<br />
But while on the scene investigating that incident, police learned that young Adrian had not been seen for several months and may have been killed.<br />
The next day, on Thanksgiving, police served a search warrant on the property and found human remains in a barn.<br />
Investigators report the house the couple&#8217;s rental was in a horrible state. One source said &#8221;Their house was just filthy. The kids lived in filth. Trash everywhere. Dried food all over the house.&#8217;<br />
Dead mice, cages full of rats, syringes, rat poison and pornographic videos are just some of the things that were found inside the home.</p>

‘We had a lot of hopes and dreams for it,’ she said. ‘We wanted someone else to enjoy it. We saw that they had kids.’<br />
‘Having little kids myself, I don’t know how anybody could allow their kids to live like this.’</p>

Heather Jones bought the pigs in September 2015, around the same time authorities think the child may have been killed. At the time, authorities reportedly feared that the boy&#8217;s remains may have been fed to the swine, according to <a class="" href="http://www.kptv.com/story/30617948/source-investigators-fear-father-fed-young-son-to-pigs-after-beating-him-to-death" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">KPTV</a>.<br />
At sentencing for Heather Jones last year November, Wyandotte County Chief Deputy District Attorney, Sheryl Lidtke said it was the most heinous crime she has seen in her 27-year career as a prosecutor: “He [Adrian] was horribly abused, neglected and ultimately killed,” Lidtke said. “I’m sure his suffering was unbearable.”<br />
She said he was physically and emotionally abused, confined and “essentially starved to death.”</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Heather Jones&#8217; father, Jeff Coon, said his daughter called him on Thanksgiving and told him Michael had killed the little boy and it would be &#8216;all over the news&#8217;.<br />
&#8216;He fed him to the pigs, is all she said,&#8217; he told the Kansas City Star. &#8216;She just told me it was going to be all over the news, and that’s the last time we talked.&#8217;<br />
Coon only learned days later that his daughter had been telling the truth.<br />
&#8216;I don’t know if I didn’t want to believe her,&#8217; he said. &#8216;She was just calm, just like we’re talking now. That’s why I never gave it another thought.&#8217;<br />
Because of his estrangement with his daughter, Coon had not seen Adrian for two years.<br />
&#8216;I just don’t understand what that little boy had done to get what he got. There’s no reason for it,&#8217; he said of the young boy&#8217;s death.</p>
