The married pastor from suburban Philadelphia has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting and impregnating a teenager who lived with his family and has been sentenced to three to six years in prison.
Malone, 35, of Exton, PA was sentenced Friday after entering guilty pleas to counts of institutional sex assault, corruption of minors and child endangerment. He also must register as a sex offender for 15 years and undergo court-mandated sex counseling.

The suspect and prosecutors had reached an earlier plea deal that called for a two-year minimum jail term, but Judge Jacqueline Cody rejected that deal as too lenient a month ago.
Malone, who is married and has three young children, was working at Calvary Fellowship, a nondenominational church in Downingtown, when authorities say he began sexually assaulting the girl in the fall of 2014, when she was 17 years old.
She gave birth a year ago to their daughter. The young woman, now aged 20, maintained that Malone took advantage of her ‘mentally, physically, spiritually’ while acting as her guardian.
When given a chance to speak in court, Malone admitted he gave the girl alcohol but said the sexual encounters were consensual. He apologized, saying his ‘failures and weaknesses’ had hurt her, her family, and his family.

Cody called the case ‘one of the times when the court system fails’ and said even with the stiffer sentence in the new plea agreement, Malone would be getting off with a much lighter punishment that his crime merits.
‘You have taken responsibility for a very, very serious series of crimes that have completely altered someone’s life,’ the judge also told Malone. ‘The things you have done are inexcusable.’
Malone apologized for betraying the victim’s trust but maintained that he did not rape her.
The original charges against Malone included rape. His defense attorney Evan Kelly said in a statement that Malone ‘has always been adamant’ he did not rape the teenager but has admitted to other crimes. ‘And for that he is embarrassed, ashamed and truly remorseful,’ Kelly said.

District Attorney Emily Provencher said the victim is pleased an additional year was added to Malone’s minimum jail term.
Following the sentencing hearing Friday, Detective Scott Pezick said of the victim that despite the trauma she had endured, she does not hold a grudge against Malone and hopes he would make something of his life after regaining his freedom, reported Daily Local News.
Malone had first met the victim years ago when she was 12-years-old and attending a Mesa, Arizona, church where he worked as a pastor, authorities said.
He contacted the girl in June 2014, when she was 17 years old, and invited her to come stay with him and his family in Minnesota, where he had become a pastor at a local church.
The young woman told police the sexual assault began just months after she moved with Malone and his family. Her and Malone’s daughter is now a year old
The following month she made the move with the family to Exton, where Malone began working at the non-denominational church Calvary Fellowship.

Bill Bateman, a pastor at Calvary Fellowship, said Malone and his wife treated the girl, who grew up without a father in her life, like an adopted daughter.
Having grown up without a father in her life, Bateman said, the young victim began to see the pastor as a father figure. She gravitated toward Malone and his family, including his wife and their children, whom she helped care for, over time.
But Malone also began giving her alcohol and acting inappropriately with her, the victim said. Trying to convince her that it was all right for them to become sexually involved, with Malone touching her and kissing her.
The victim reported that Malone began sexually assaulting her in the fall of 2014 while she was living at his residence. She was 17 the time. The girl said that her supposed guardian gave her alcohol twice after she turned 18, and in one of the instances molested her after she became highly intoxicated.
She became pregnant, and the child was born in March 2016, when she was 19.

As part of the plea deal, the pastor is prohibited from making contact with the victim.
