<article>An Oklahoma cop facing a manslaughter trial in last year&#8217;s shooting death of Terence Crutcher, knew immediately that she erred in her assessment of thee situation prosecutors in Tulsa Oklahoma said.<br />

A jury heard closing arguments in Shelby’s manslaughter trial Wednesday morning, and was left to deliberate on a verdict for the killing that sparked nationwide outrage.<br />
In closing, District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler who all through the trial hed pointed out glaring lattitudes police gave the defendant during invetigations and interviews, accused state police of trying to shield one of their own.<br />
He said an outside investigation was necessary because Shelby&#8217;s police interview was a &#8220;setup job&#8221; to shield Shelby from a criminal case.</article>

<p>Officer Betty Shelby, 43, is facing two counts of first-degree manslaughter becausee she stopped after seeing Crutcher, a 40-year-old father of four, in the middle of a road on Sept. 16, opening fire after he refused commands to lie down.<br />
The 10-year veteran of Tulsa PD has claimed she believed that the motorist, whose hands were seen up in video of the shooting, may have been reaching into his car for a gun.<br />

<p>On trial in last year&#8217;s shooting death of Terence Crutcher, officer Shelby said in a tearful &#8220;60 Minutes&#8221; interview, last month that her victim is to blame for his own death.<br />
The 10-year veteran of the Tulsa police department said Crutcher&#8217;s apparent drug-induced behavior contributed to the fateful September confrontation.<br />

And I thought, &#8216;Hmmm. I wonder if he&#8217;s on PCP,'&#8221; she said<br />
She has also claimed that he appeared to be high, with a vial of PCP found in his car and the drug found in his system during an autopsy.<br />
However, no gun was found, and prosecutors say Crutcher posed no threat to officers and he did nothing aggressive.<br />
Shelby, who also said that she relied on her training when deciding to shoot rather than use a Taser, said in an interview last month that Crutcher caused his own death.</p>

<p>However, Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler said that other officers knew the shooting was wrong immediately afterwards, with a fellow cop telling Shelby &#8220;not to say a word.&#8221;<br />
The officer faces from four years to life in prison if convicted.</p>
