<article id="ra-body">A Brooklyn man already serving time in prison bagged an additional sentence which may be as long as 20 years in prison on Friday for raping a woman on a subway platform nineteen ago.<br />
After Johnny Jacob was convicted of federal money laundering charges in 2013, his DNA was entered into the national database, Combined DNA Index System, and it connected him to the March 2, 1998 rape of a 19-year-old woman.<br />
“Thankfully, the DNA recovered that day was used to hold the defendant accountable for this horrific act and bring justice to his victim, who bravely testified against him at trial,” said Acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.<br />
Jacob was convicted of first-degree rape after a jury trial and sentenced by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Dineen Riviezzo to 10 to 20 years in prison.<br />
The teen was on her way to her first day of work around 9:30 a.m. when she exited the M train station at Ninth St. and Fourth Ave.<br />
She was approached by Jacob who ordered her to go back to the platform, according to trial testimony.<br />
Jacob, then 26, threatened to shoot her by placing what was believed to be a gun to her back and raped her, prosecutors said.<br />
The convicted rapist also threatened her not to call the police or else he would kill her and fled the scene.<br />
The victim was treated at Lutheran Hospital where a rape kit was administered.</p>
