A woman has been charged with the murder of her US Army veteran boyfriend who police say she shot for being ‘a jerk’.
Laura Flores Messick, 30, was arrested in San Antonio on Sunday night on suspicion of killing her live-in boyfriend Chason Montezdeoca, 40, who served in Iraq, the day before.
Police say she opened fire on the Chason as he stood in the hallway of their shared home in San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday night.
Messick told police she was angry he had made her leave a bar earlier, KSAT reported.
After shooting him, they say she took a knife to his throat then fled.
On Saturday night, Montezdeoca’s mother visited and found his corpse. Messick was arrested Sunday.

The arrest warrant states that the victim’s mother told police she had received a phone call from her son, who told her he had been arguing with his girlfriend. She said during the conversation, she could hear the suspect yelling, making threats against him, in the background.
She confessed to the killing once in custody, Fox San Antonio reports. Questioned about the killing, Flores-Messick confessed. She told investigators while she was shooting Montezdeoca, she was thinking,“What an a**hole. What a jerk.”
When she left the scene, she did not know if the victim was dead, and she did not report harming him because she feared she’d be charged with murder, she told detectives.
