<p>The male model accused of raping a woman in a Hell’s Kitchen home was full of apologies moments after the alleged attack, but only because he’d climbed into bed with the wrong roommate.<br />
Henry Romero, who is signed with the Abrams Artists Agency, allegedly raped the 31-year-old victim at her Hell’s Kitchen home in the early hours of March 21.<br />
The 34-year-old male model had been introduced to the woman by friends, and the victim’s roommate let Romero sleep over in their living room, police said.<br />
Describing overhearing the incident, the intended victim said: “He went into my room, thinking it was me!” She overheard the ruckus in the bedroom next to hers after a boozy night out with friends, she said.<br />
I heard her say, ‘Get off me! Get off me!’ and then he said, ‘I’m sorry! I thought you were [your roommate.]”<br />
Romero had spent the night drinking with both women and a few male friends, the intended target said.<br />
She was Romero’s date that night, and had even told Romero that he could sleep on her floor overnight to avoid the trip back to Astoria.<br />
But she left the gathering early because Romero began acting creepy as they partied at a gay bar in Midtown, she said.<br />
“He said, ‘I want you to dance for me — that’s why I brought you here,’” the roommate recalled. “The way he said it was just weird.”<br />
Disturbed, and wanting to get something to eat, she left the bar. Once she returned home, Romero was indeed sprawled on the floor, sleeping.<br />
Meanwhile her housemate, who was a temporary visitor from another country, had for some reason switched beds with her, she said.<br />
The victim who said she fell asleep in the other woman’s empty bed, only to awake at 6 a.m. with her pants down and Romero allegedly kissing her neck while having sex with her. Romero allegedly then apologized, claiming he’d mistaken one of the women for the other, the other woman’s voice rose in protest: “What do you mean! She’s blond and I have black hair!”<br />
The woman reported the incident on April 7 and Romero was arrested on April 25, the sources said.<br />
Romero, who has pleaded not guilty to a charge of first-degree rape, appeared for a hearing in Manhattan Criminal Court on Wednesday.<br />
Romero remains free on $3,000 bail on felony rape charges; he’s due back in court on August 1.</p>
