<p>A nationwide man hunt is on to head off a young couple allegedly out on their version of a Bonnie and Clyde type crime wave.<br />
Police said the couple in their early twenties. shot a man in the chest after abducting his female friend in Tennessee, before heading up north to New York and injuring a man during a brazen home invasion.<br />
Jarret Cole Heitmann, 24, and Makayla Danielle Stilwell, 22, allegedly started their crime spree in Kingsport, Tennessee &#8211; about 100 miles northeast of Knoxville on Tuesday, June 20.<br />
The couple is accused of abducting a young woman while she was walking home. They then drove her to a mobile home where her boyfriend lived and forced her at gunpoint to knock on the door, the <a class="" href="http://www.recordonline.com/news/20170624/manhunt-for-tenn-fugitives-who-terrorized-bloomingburg-man" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Times Herald-Record</a> reports.<br />
When the home owner Dustin Bishop opened the door, Heitmann and Stilwell allegedly dragged him back into the mobile home and shot him in the chest, before fleeing the scene and leaving 34-year-old Bishop for dead.<br />
Bishop was rushed to hospital and survived the attack, but the couple allegedly was not done.<br />
Heitmann and Stilwell then allegedly made the almost 700 mile drive from northeast Tennessee to a small village in New York state and attacked a man in the early hours of Saturday morning.<br />
They are accused of forcing their way into the home of 61-year-old Robert Grumet about 3am in Bloomingburg &#8211; about 80 miles northwest of Manhattan.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">The Herald-Record states the duo left Grumet with a head injury that required stitches and for the 61-year-old to spend a night in hospital.<br />
The alleged victim told the newspaper he was recovering well, and thankful to neighbors who were worried about him in the wake of the invasion.<br />
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is offered a reward of $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of each suspect.<br />
&#8216;I&#8217;m touched by the kind things that my neighbors are saying, and their concern, and I&#8217;m looking forward to getting past this,&#8217; Grumet said, before adding that he did not want to explain how his head was injured during the incident.Neighbors told the newspaper the 61-year-old owned a lot of guns, which they claimed have been stolen by the duo.<br />
Mark Antonoff, a 68-year-old neighbor of Grumet&#8217;s, said he believes he had a near miss with the alleged attackers.<br />
Explaining that he was woken up by what he thinks was a knock at the door, but after his immediate neighbor turned their front light on, the duo drove to Grumet&#8217;s house instead.<br />
After that, I thought, &#8220;Wow, they could’ve picked my house&#8221;,&#8217; he said.<br />
&#8216;It could’ve been any one of us in the hospital yesterday.&#8217;<br />
Brittney Ferrier, a 28-year-old who lives nearby, said: &#8216;This is such a private area&#8230; It&#8217;s so secluded. You wouldn&#8217;t think this would happen here.&#8217;</p>
