<p>A 15-year-old girl allegedly shot and killed her mother, then got her friend to help burn down the home in a bid to destroy the evidence.<br />
Anna Schroeder armed herself with a .38 revolver and waited for her 53-year-old mother Peggy to get back to her home in Morrison, Illinois, from work on July 6, police say.<br />
When Peggy got back, Anna reportedly told her to put a towel over her face before shooting her in the head in their living room, according to a police officer&#8217;s testimony.<br />
Before she was formally charged with the killing, Anna wrote a chilling Facebook post telling her mother she loved her and asked for forgiveness for &#8216;not always being the best daughter&#8217;.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Anna has since been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, concealment of homicidal death and arson. Her friend Rachel has not been formally charged.<br />
Despite the severity of the charge, state law dictates she will appear in juvenile court because she is a minor.<br />
If convicted, she could be jailed until she is 21.<br />
The motive behind the alleged murder is unclear.<br />
Anna is said to have texted her friend Rachel Helm, also 15, to confess that she had killed her mother on Thursday, <a class="" href="http://www.saukvalley.com/2017/07/11/morrison-teenager-charged-with-first-degree-murder/a9ijzpa/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Sauk Valley News </a>reported.<br />
Police said Anna sent Rachel a photo of her mother&#8217;s body when she refused to believe she had shot her.<br />
Rachel&#8217;s mother is said to have given her a lift from Rock Falls to Anna&#8217;s house, where both girls tried to clean the blood out of the carpet.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">The next day, they are reported to have moved Peggy&#8217;s body from the living room to the bedroom and covered her with a sheet before going out to buy more cleaning supplies.<br />
Ultimately they decided to burn the house down on Saturday, the police officer said.<br />
Firefighters found Peggy&#8217;s body inside the charred remains of the house after putting out the flames, <a class="" href="http://www.kwqc.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">KWQC </a>reported.<br />
Rachel then confessed everything to her mother, who took her to the Whiteside County Sheriff&#8217;s Department for questioning.</p>

She shot her mother at 8:00 pm. By At 8:37 p.m., Anna posted a message to her mom on Peggy&#8217;s Facebook page:<br />
&#8220;I don&#8217;t even know if you can see me right now but if you can I just want you to know you were my best friend. There were so many things I wanted to say and do with you. I wasn&#8217;t always the best daughter and I&#8217;m so sorry. I love you so much mom I just want you to know and I&#8217;ll never forget you.&#8221;<br />
The message was followed by two heart icons.<br />
Anna has since been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, concealment of homicidal death and arson.</div>

Following Rachel&#8217;s confession, Anna was brought to Bureau County Sheriff&#8217;s Department where she broke down and admitted to the killing, a police officer said.<br />
Both girls were taken into custody at Mary Davis Detention Home in Galesburg. They are scheduled to appear in court August 8.</p>

<p class="imageCaption">Anna’s older sister, Kaylene, told <a href="http://wqad.com/2017/07/11/355071/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WQAD</a> that her mother “gave us a second chance at life.” Kaylene said that she and Anna had been adopted by Peggy. Kaylene spoke to the station from her mother’s garden. “This is where she spent most of her time. She enjoyed being outdoors a lot… She didn’t deserve this. She was the kindest person.”<br />
Kaylene told Anna about her sister saying, “She`s never been known to be violent or just burst into moods like this. I don`t know what was going through her mind… just threw away her life and my mom’s.”</p>

According to <a href="http://www.kwqc.com/content/news/UPDATE-Daughter-with-murder-of-Morrison-woman-found-in-house-fire-433902563.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">KWQC</a>, police believe it was Rachel who set the fire in two rooms in the home. That same report refers to Anna’s alleged accomplice as her “girlfriend.” Under a June 11 selfie on Anna’s Facebook page, Rachel wrote, “My baby’s beautiful.” Under a March 19 photo, Rachel wrote that Anna was “not just cute so beautiful.”<br />
The last visible post from Rachel’s Facebook page is a Meme that reads, “My mom said I could be anything. So I became a lesbian.”</p>

Rachel allegedly told her mother that she and Anna had tried to clean up the blood caused by the shooting and had moved Peggy’s body. Rachel’s mother then took her daughter to Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department where she confessed.<br />
Rachel told police that she went to Anna’s home after Anna told her about the shooting. Initially she didn’t believe Anna who then texted a photo of Peggy’s bloodied body.<br />
The pair set to work cleaning up the blood, according to authorities.<br />
The following day, the duo allegedly moved the body into Peggy’s bedroom, covering the corpse with a sheet. Despite more cleaning on July 7, they allegedly decided to burn the house down on July 8.<br />
Anna was picked up at her dad&#8217;s house and taken to the Bureau County Sheriff&#8217;s Department for questioning. They left her alone for the first 45 minutes, then she broke into tears and asked for her father.<br />
She confessed everything – including having researched children who murdered their parents, Molina testified.</p>
