<p>A Canadian man accused of fatally stabbing his girlfriend and posting the details on Reddit was captured in Texas by Secret Service agents after several months on the run.<br />
A warrant was issued for Ager Hasan after 22-year-old Melinda Vasilije was found dead in her Kitchener, Ontario home on April 28.<br />
Hasan, 24, was arrested during a traffic stop in San Antonio on Tuesday, according to the Waterloo Regional Police Service. The Secret Service conducted the traffic stop in connection to an ongoing counterfeit currency probe.</p>

<p>The arrest came two days after someone claiming to be Hasan posted on Instagram: &#8220;I&#8217;m coming home. It’s time to end the dark path I’ve been traveling and give people the closure they deserve.&#8221;<br />
A post on Reddit a few days after Vasilije was killed included details about the slaying.<br />
&#8220;Out of shock and fear I grab one (knife). I hit her with it, almost blindly. A few times,&#8221; read the online post, <a href="https://www.thestar.com/news/crime/2017/07/12/hamilton-man-accused-of-kitchener-stabbing-death-arrested-in-texas-police-say.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to the Star</a>. &#8220;I was confused, shocked and scared. I had no intentions of that happening. When I left I honestly thought she just passed out. Then I looked at the blood, and started freaking out and just ran.&#8221;<br />
The person also wrote, according to the Star: &#8220;I honestly had no intentions of ever doing that to her, I was protecting myself.&#8221;<br />
The post would later be removed from Reddit.Officers had exchanged emails with Hasan while he was on the run, according to authorities.<br />
&#8220;With the number of social media posts that have been allegedly been provided by him, one of the difficulties we have as a law enforcement agency is dealing with legislation in relation to privacy and IP addresses,&#8221; Insp. Mike Haffner of the Waterloo Regional Police said Wednesday, <a href="http://globalnews.ca/news/3592299/ager-hasan-wanted-murder-instagram/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to Global News</a>.<br />
&#8220;Ultimately it causes significant delays in trying to locate individuals, gain information and more important located where Mr. Hasan was.&#8221;</p>

<p>In the message posted on Reddit, the person, [later identified as Hasan], says he didn’t mean to do it and apologizes to Vasilije’s family.<br />
“I know it will not will be accepted but know I didn’t mean anything bad to happened that night when I went there. Rest in peace my beautiful. I hope you forgive me in the after life,” the post read.<br />
The post says the pair had been in a relationship for more than a year. In April, they broke up and he arrived at her apartment. A fight broke out with two other men who were at the apartment.<br />
Police have said Hasan was ordered not to enter Waterloo Region and to not make contact with Vasilije after he was charged with an alleged break-and-enter and two alleged assaults at her Country Hill Drive apartment on April 3.<br />
In the Reddit post, the writer said he did not plan Vasilije’s death.<br />
“I always have a passport in the car and decided to just get away for a few days before turning myself in or killing myself,” the post said.<br />
Authorities say that Hasan crossed the border on April 28 in a vehicle with an Ontario license plate, according to Global News. He would later steal a vehicle with a Pennsylvania license plate from a Walmart parking lot, the news website reported. He had been last seen in Tennessee in May.<br />
Hasan appeared in court on Wednesday in Texas and &#8220;will be held in custody until the determination is made for the extradition hearing,&#8221; Haffner <a href="http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/kitchener-waterloo/waterloo-police-melinda-vasilije-ager-stabbing-hasan-kitchener-hamilton-1.4202685" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told CBC News</a>. He is charged with second-degree murder.</p>
