<p class="mol-para-with-font">A state inmate and a female he kidnapped from a Claiborne Parish prison facility in Louisiana are dead, Sheriff Ken Bailey confirmed Thursday night.<br />
The fugitive Louisiana inmate,Deltra Henderson, is suspected of taking an assistant warden&#8217;s teenage step-daughter hostage and fatally stabbing her before he was shot dead in a standoff with police.<br />
Henderson, 39, was reported missing from the David Wade Correctional facility at about 1.40pm on Thursday.<br />
He allegedly broke into a home and taking hostage the girl, who lived on the grounds of the prison with her family, <a class="" href="https://www.ktbs.com/news/sheriff-escaped-state-inmate-and-female-kidnapped-from-prison-facility/article_9b021192-733a-11e7-81ea-bb7b1431a45a.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">KTBS</a> reports.</p>

<p>Henderson stole a car but crashed it not far from the prison complex, then fled into a home on prison property, the Louisiana Department of Corrections said.<br />
Officers found Henderson hiding in a home on prison property later in the afternoon and surrounded the building.<br />
Henderson opened fire on the police but was killed they returned fire.<br />
The firefight erupted in the middle of negotiations aimed at the peaceful surrender of the inmate. Henderson fired shots at officers who then returned fire, killing Henderson, police sources said.<br />
It is believed that Henderson killed his hostage. The girl&#8217;s body was found in a wooded area. It is not clear when she was stabbed to death.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Authorities have not yet released the victim&#8217;s name but KTBS reports that she graduated from Summerfield High School this year and was due to start college.<br />
Henderson who had been at the prison since 2001, was a trusty serving time fo attempted armed robbery, aggravated burglary and cocaine distribution.<br />
He had a good time release date of March 28, 2025.</p>
