<p>A Brooklyn judge swiftly sentenced an obsessed Manhattan man to 40 years to life in prison for holding a 20-year-old family grudge and killing a beloved father and family head.<br />
&#8220;None of us could believe our father was killed until me and my older brother claimed his body in the hospital laying there cold as ice,&#8221; said a court-appointed Mandarin interpreter who read a letter on behalf of Ying Guan Chen&#8217;s family.<br />
The 68-year-old victim attended a wedding in Bay Ridge on Dec. 7, 2015, where 46-year-old Wu Long Chen was also a guest.<br />
After the reception, Wu was seen on surveillance video following the older man on Seventh Ave. and 61st St. in Sunset Park.<br />
Ying was shot in the head, chest and arm by the stalker until his gun jammed.<br />
Wu was convicted on June 19 for shooting an elderly man to death stemming from a 20-year-old feud that started in a small village in China.<br />
He was still seething over being assaulted in China decades ago and took his revenge on his assailant’s father, fatally shooting 68-year-old Ying on a Brooklyn street, law enforcement sources said.<br />
Wu Long Chen, 46, of Chinatown in Manhattan, NY was arrested and charged in the Dec. 7 slaying of Ying Guan Chen.</p>

<p>Ying had just attended a wedding in Brooklyn, when he was chased and fatally shot three times near 61st St. in Sunset Park, police said.<br />
He was dying of gunshot wounds to the head, chest and forearm, but managed to burst into a Popeyes Chicken on Seventh Ave. and yell for help “Somebody help me! Call the police! Call the police!”, witnesses said.<br />
A police source said Ying Guan Chen also told the workers in Mandarin “he was going to die.”<br />

Wu [left], and Ying’s sons had heated arguments, decades ago in China, about Wu’s family building an additional floor to their property that hovered over the victim’s family’s home, prosecutors said.<br />
In the course of the dispute, Ying Guan Chen’s son had assaulted Wu Long Chen and his brother in China more than 20 years ago, according to a law enforcement<br />
&#8220;With nothing happening in between, nothing could suppress the animosity, no time would change this defendant and he will remain a danger to the Chen family,&#8221; Assistant District Attorney Howard Jackson said at the trial testimony.<br />
After a wedding in Bay Ridge on Dec. 7, 2015, Wu Long Chen recognized Ying Guan Chen, the father of his former neighbor in China, he stalked the older Ying and shot him in revenge.<br />
Surveillance video from the fast food joint captured a a shooter wearing a black trenchcoat and pink hat discarding the .22-caliber pistol he used in the heinous execution, police sources said<br />
Wu fled to Texas and was captured trying to jump the border to Mexico.<br />
&#8220;The defendant harbored a grudge &#8230; and since he couldn&#8217;t find the victim&#8217;s sons he sought retribution by killing the victim instead, even though he had no involvement in the dispute,” the DA’s office said in a news release issued on Wednesday.<br />
Wu Long Chen admitted to the killing, and was caught on video, according to a criminal complaint.<br />
He was charged and convicted on second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.</p>

Wu&#8217;s attorney, Wayne Bodden, informed the judge that his client, who testified on his own behalf during the trial, maintains his innocence.<br />
&#8220;I want to appeal. I have nothing to do with this case,&#8221; reiterated Wu through another interpreter.</p>
