<p>Police in New York have identified the body of a troubled young singer who they believe jumped off the George Washington Bridge last week, police sources said, leaving the woman’s mother devastated.<br />
Lael Feldman’s corpse was discovered floating near the rocks in Spuyten Duyvil Creek off the northern tip of Inwood around 2:40 p.m. Monday, sources said, adding that her remains have been positively identified.<br />
“I’m in shock,” Feldman’s mother, Marla Mase, in a Tuesday interview said. “I cried, and I’m grieving, and I talk to her.”<br />
She said the family was bringing photos of her daughter’s tattoos to the city Medical Examiner’s Office to match up with the body as the final proof, but a friend would be the one to actually enter the room and make the heartbreaking personal ID because the mom couldn’t do it.<br />
Feldman’s tattoos include the word “breathe” on her wrist, wings on her ankle and a Jewish chai symbol on her hip.<br />
The NYPD’s Harbor unit removed the body, which was dressed in a bathing suit, to the Columbia University Boathouse.<br />
Investigators believe she jumped from the George Washington Bridge on Wednesday.</p>

<p><strong> </strong>The young Brooklyn singer who was reported missing last week, struggles with depression and has been suicidal for a while, her family said.<br />
Lael Feldman, 24, of Clinton Hill, went missing on Wednesday evening, and a jogger found her purse, shoes, phone and wallet on a bridge walkway, police said.<br />
Marla Mase, said that given her daughter’s history of depression and “many suicide attempts,” she immediately assumed she’d jumped from the bridge.<br />
“As soon as I heard George Washington Bridge I knew it,” she said. “What the f–k else would she be doing up there.”<br />
Cops tracked down surveillance video showing Feldman, who performs under the name Lael Summer, walking from the New Jersey side of the bridge to the New York side.<br />
“I guess she must have been walking back and forth,” Mase said.<br />
“I’ve been preparing myself for this,” she said. “She has really been wanting out for a really long time, almost like her whole life.”<br />
Feldman attended the University of Southern California’s Popular Music program and had released two albums. Her debut album, “<a href="https://soundcloud.com/laelsummer/sets/burden-to-bear" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Burden To Bear</a>&#8221; was released in 2014.</p>
