<p>Lynette Daley was allegedly dragged into the ocean where Adrian Attwater, 42, is said to have tried to wash the blood from her body before calling 911.<br />
The allegations were made by prosecutor Philip Strickland at the New South Wales Supreme Court at Coffs Harbour, Australia.<br />
Attwater, who has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter and aggravated sexual assault, later said “I didn’t know a f—king hug can kill you,” Strickland said.<br />
The jury heard Daley who died on a secluded beach on the New South Wales north coast might have survived with timely medical assistance.<br />
Lynette Daley, 33, died during a camping trip to Ten Mile beach near Iluka in 2011.<br />
A Supreme Court trial in Coffs Harbour has heard the woman suffered severe internal and external lacerations caused by violent sexual activity.<br />
Crown Prosecutor, Philip Strickland SC, told the jury Ms Daley suffered significant blood loss and lapsed into hypovolemic shock.<br />
&#8220;She was only 59 kilograms [130 lbs], and the amount of blood she lost was critical,” Mr Strickland said.<br />
&#8220;In short, she was bleeding to death.<br />
&#8220;She was too intoxicated to do anything about it and she was in a remote location.<br />
&#8220;[The accused] Adrian Attwater did nothing in a timely manner to do anything about it.”<br />
Attwater, 42, has been charged with manslaughter and aggravated sexual assault in company.</p>

<p>Daley died from injuries sustained in the alleged sexual assault at Ten Mile Beach, the prosecutor previously told the court. Ten Mile Beach is on the east coast of Australia and is about 420 miles north of Sydney.<br />
A jury of seven women and five men on Monday heard the 33-year-old suffered severe lacerations to her genitals from a violent sexual act involving the use of a hand or fist.<br />
Crown prosecutor Philip Strickland SC told the court Ms Daley had lacerations in and around her vagina.<br />
&#8220;The lacerations to the vagina were very significant,&#8221; he said.<br />
&#8220;They caused significant bleeding — a significant loss of blood.&#8221;<br />
Paul Maris, told the court the victim was &#8220;quite all right&#8221; with the sexual act which led to her death.<br />
&#8220;She didn&#8217;t say stop it, she was alright with what we were doing,&#8221; he said.<br />
Attwater’s friend and co-accused, Paul Maris, 47, has pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting the mother and hindering the discovery of evidence.<br />
The trio had been drinking “a lot of alcohol” on the camping trip and allegedly engaged in a sex act on a mattress in the back of Maris’ truck before Daley’s death.<br />
Maris allegedly burned the blood-stained mattress and sheet before ambulance officers arrived, the prosecutor said on Tuesday.<br />
The prosecution said Attwater denied being aware of the mother’s significant injuries when the pair went skinny dipping before dawn.<br />
“No, she was all f—king sweet,” Attwater allegedly told police.<br />
Attwater said he noticed a bit of blood on his hand after a “wild sex session” and “the smell was terrible so we were going into the ocean to wash,” Strickland said.<br />
But the Crown alleges that Daley’s injuries must have been obvious to Attwater.<br />
“When she goes into the ocean … she doesn’t walk in there unassisted, she doesn’t frolic in there, she is dragged or carried,” Strickland said.<br />
“At that stage, she is either dead or dying.” Attwater claims Daley had a seizure, went limp and stopped breathing after about five minutes in the ocean, Strickland said. “The [prosecutor] says that’s a lie.”</p>

<p>Photos shown in court showed injuries to Daley that caused significant blood loss.<br />
The assault “substantially or significantly contributed to her death,” Strickland said.<br />
Her autopsy also revealed a small amount of methamphetamine and a blood alcohol concentration of 0.3, meaning she was “grossly intoxicated” at the time, and either did not or could not give consent, the prosecutor said. Adding that Attwater told police “she [Daley] was blind, she was off her f—king face last night.”<br />
Attwater claimed Daley had a fit or seizure in the ocean when she went for a swim while naked and he performed CPR after dragging her back to shore.<br />
When questioned about how the trio came to have group sex, Attwater said: “These things happen … girls will be girls, boys will be boys.”<br />
Both men told police they thought it was consensual.<br />
The trial is expected to run for six weeks.</p>
