82-year-old Charles Emery was arrested along with his brothers on charges of child pornography and abuse

Investigators found toys, used children’s underwear and kids’ shoes at the home where three elderly brothers are accused of fostering their sick obsession with young girls.
Prosecutors say the Seattle home of Charles Emery, 82; Thomas Emery, 80, and Edwin Emery, 78, held handwritten notes about the “kidnapping, torturing, raping and murdering of young girls.”
Detectives say it was Charles’ “manifestos” about Satanic rituals, kidnapping, raping and killing girls that led them to dig under sheds, searching for evidence of potential murder.
Investigators say that the men accumulated a trove of child pornography until their niece saw pictures of sexual abuse when cleaning the home earlier this month and called 911.
The brothers were charged with child pornography and sexual abuse of a child on Monday, though KIRO reported investigators returned Wednesday to the house that Edwin bought in 1962.
A Packard that appeared to be from the early 20th Century was also taken away from the house Wednesday.

The probe into the brother began August 9 when T.W., the family member who says the brothers got her drunk and photographed and molested her, found boxes packed with obscene photos of notes while she was cleaning up the brothers’ garage and called police. Besides pornographic images of children and handwritten notes detailing the kidnapping, rape and murder of young girls, T.W. also found socks and shoes just like the ones Charles Emery dressed her up in before he abused and photographed her, according to court papers.

Beyond the horrific images, court documents say that the suspects “have shared the majority of their lives sexually abusing children to whom they had access” and wrote graphic descriptions of abusing children.
None of the brothers have children, though evidence provided by their niece included the used underwear, dozens of children’s penny loafers, small vodka bottles, notes about “ritualistic and satanic sacrifices of minor female children” as well as local and national news clips about murdered, missing and abused children.
Edwin Emery admitted to finding and printing child pornography when interviewed, according to prosecutors, though his brother Thomas said that he considered the images “art.”
Charles Emery, a former hospital janitor, has dementia and lived at a nursing home, his family told KIRO.
Seattle police say the brothers on their own admission, began molesting their own sister and eventually molested other young relatives for decades.
Investigators found that the brothers sexually abused at least two and possibly three generations of women in their family. When the brothers were children, all three of them sexually abused a female family member – identified in court papers only as E.V. – so intensely that she was forced out of the family home and into foster care, according to court papers filed by Seattle prosecutors. Charles and Edwin later sexually abused that woman’s daughter, the whistle-blower identified as T.W., beginning when she was a toddler, T.W. told investigators.
Seattle Police Department Capt. Mike Edwards confirmed that the investigation which began with two victims has grown to four. “We’re confident we’re only at the tip of the iceberg” Capt. Edwards said.

Charles, the youngest of the brothers was also investigated but not prosecuted for child pornography in 2013 after images were found on his computer when he brought it in for repairs, a probe during which he allegedly admitted to abusing a sister and her daughter.
Investigators search into the brothers’ activities, and any other crimes, has also reportedly extended to a second home, in the Seattle suburb of Shelton.
82-year-old Charles Emery, 80-year-old Thomas Emery and 79-year-old Edwin Emery were charged Monday with two counts of possession of depictions of minors engaged in sexual conduct, but prosecuting them for the alleged sexual abuse of their family members appears to be impossible because the statute of limitations has expired
All three brothers are currently being held on bails of $500,000.
Decades long neighbors in the quiet Seattle Green Lake neighborhood said they always wondered about the dilapidated house and the three guarded, mysterious Emery brothers who lived there since Edwin purchased the house in 1962.
“I’ve never seen a girlfriend, a wife, a woman of any type visit that house,” said Don Smith, who lives next door.
Seattle police say the brothers, ranging in age from 78 to 82, began molesting their own sister and eventually molested other young relatives for decades.
None of them had ever married, none had their own children or many relationships outside their own siblings.
