<p>The remains of a 3-year-old found encased in concrete are believed to belong to the grandson of a prominent Kansas politician.<br />
Local CBS affiliate <a href="http://www.kwch.com/content/news/Wichita-police-find-childs-remains-in-concrete-structure--442643413.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">KWCH </a>reports that boy&#8217;s father, Carlo Brewer gave a DNA swab over the weekend in a bid to see if the remains are those of his missing son, Evan.<br />
Carlo himself is the son of Kansas gubernatorial candidate and the former mayor of a Wichita, Carl Brewer.<br />
The child&#8217;s remains was recovered at the home, where his mom, Miranda Miller, 36, lived with her 40-year-old boyfriend, Stephen Bodine. The two had been arrested on different charges last week regarding the child custody case.<br />
Little Evan Brewer, the political heavy weight&#8217;s grandson, has been missing for the past two months as his dad who was also his legal guardian, Carlo Brewer, was locked in a pernicious custody game with Miller.<br />
Carlo Brewer has spent the last several months fighting to protect his son from Miller, 36, Gilmore said.<br />
When he finally succeeded in getting an order of protection for Evan against his mother, on July 6, Miller vanished when authorities tried to serve the order.</p>

<p>Miranda Miller did not have custody of the child when she abducted him. Evan&#8217;s dad, Carlo Brewer and his wife had been trying to find him. According to the child’s step-mother, Stephen Bodine threatened to “chop her up” when she and the child’s father went to the home where human remains were later found.</p>

<p>While giving a timeline of two weeks for the DNA results, Lt. Jeff Gilmore of Wichita PD said investigators believe the remains belonged to Evan, but asked for patience during the ongoing probe.<br />
“At this time we suspect this to be the body of 3-year-old Evan Brewer,” he said.<br />
The owner of a home in south Wichita discovered the coffin-like piece of concrete — with a foul stench coming out of it — on Saturday while he was cleaning up the property.<br />
Evan’s mother, Miranda Miller, and her boyfriend, Stephen Bodine, previously rented the home, officials said, and had been evicted. Both were arrested last week on a different child custody charge.<br />
Carl Brewer, the former mayor of a Wichita, confirmed Evan was his grandson Tuesday.<br />
“We are devastated by the death of our sweet and loving grandson, Evan,” he said in a <a href="http://www.kansas.com/news/local/crime/article171323142.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement to the Wichita Eagle</a>. “We can not begin to make sense of this tragedy but are thankful the suspects are in custody.”</p>

<p>Authorities caught up with Miller on Aug. 30, when she was arrested for aggravated interference with parental custody. But their son Evan was not with her, Gilmore said. Nor was the child with Bodine when he was arrested the same day.<br />
Evan&#8217;s mother, Miranda Miller, is currently being held in the Sedgwick County jail for aggravated interference with parental custody.<br />
Her boyfriend, Stephen Bodine, is being held on the same charge and aggravated assault.<br />
Both remain in a Sedgwick County jail.<br />
Bodine is being held on $260,000 bond, while Miranda Miller is on $25,000 bond.<a href="http://www.kansas.com/news/local/crime/article171198457.html">.</a></p>
