Houston area realtor Crystal McDowell was reported missing just before Hurricane Harvey made landfall. She remains missing

A Texas realtor remains missing after vanishing in the hours before Hurricane Harvey and posting the message “stay safe out there!” on Facebook.
Crystal McDowell, 37, was last seen on surveillance video leaving her boyfriend’s home in Baytown on her way to pick up her two young children, according to ABC News. She said she was headed to pick up her children, 5 and 8, from her ex-husband’s home, less than 18 miles away from where she was staying in the Houston suburb of Baytown, Texas.
That was early on Aug. 25, about a day before the worst of Hurricane Harvey hit the region.
Boyfriend Paul Hargrave said Crystal texted him that the roads were clear. She has not been seen since. That was the last time he heard from McDowell — about 24 hours before the worst of the catastrophic hurricane hit the Houston area.
The real estate agent missed a meeting with a client on Friday afternoon, and her uncle Jeff Walters reported her as a missing person on Saturday.
Days later, her black Mercedes was found submerged in water at a Motel 6 in Mont Belvieu.

Paul Hargrave told ABC News that McDowell had been fighting with her former husband. “I think something’s horribly wrong,” he told the network.
Jeff Walters told CBS News last week that he became suspicious after speaking with her ex, Steven McDowell, about Crystal.
“He showed me a message on his phone where she said she was going to get the kids and go to Dallas,” Walters told CBS News. “I have reservations about believing that she sent that message.
“I have strong feelings about what’s happened but I’d rather not voice them right now,” Walters added in the interview.
Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne last week said that he is “very, very confident” that she was not a victim of the hurricane, which reportedly, has claimed dozens of lives.
“We are hampered by some of the flood issues, but we are as aggressive as ever trying to locate and find Crystal McDowell,” he told “CBS This Morning” last week.
The epic devastation of Harvey on Texas, has severely impeded the search for the missing woman. The Chambers County Sheriff’s Office launched a missing person investigation and posted information about the case on social media, which so far has not yielded any concrete leads.
For their part Paul Hargrave and Jeff Walters took to social media to spread the word about the missing realtor. They plastered her photo, and a description of her black Mercedes, on Facebook, which led to the discovery of her car. Walters said that two people who were seen inside McDowell’s car were detained at the motel by police and taken in for questioning. Police “do not believe they were involved with Crystal’s disappearance,”Hargrave said.

The mother-of-two and her estranged husband, Steven McDowell were divorced three months ago, according to People. 
Crystal’s uncle Jeff Walters told Dateline that his niece had been living with her “ex-husband” in Baytown, Texas, while renovations were being done on her home. Walters said, “He said she had sent him a message saying she was coming to pick up the kids to go to Dallas, but she didn’t show. We aren’t sure she sent those message to him, though. She never told me of plans to go to Dallas for the storm.”
Crystal McDowell posted a message on the evening of Aug. 24 on her realtor Facebook page for everyone to “stay safe out there!”
The day before she posted on her personal Facebook page that “I’ve never been happier in my whole life than I am right now. God is so good.”
McDowell’s family is offering a $10,000 reward for information on hers whereabouts and the arrest of any individuals involved.
