<p>A maximum security facility in upstate New York penitentiary has coughed a second female prison worker busted for having sex with an inmate in as many years.<br />
Denise Prell, 38, was caught getting having sex behind the walls of the Clinton Correctional Facility two years after prison seamstress Joyce Mitchell aided the “Shawshank Redemption”-style breakout of convicted killers Richard Matt and David Sweat. at the upstate penitentiary where a Love-struck Mitchell was having a sexual relationship with one of the men although her husband also worked at the jail.<br />
The latest probe of Denise Prell began after a correction officer witnessed “inappropriate behavior” between the civilian employee and an inmate, authorities said.<br />
Prell was fired soon after, and the investigation turned up evidence indicating that she was also smuggling banned items into the prison, authorities said.<br />
She was arraigned Wednesday on multiple charges including promoting prison contraband, sexual abuse and 23 counts of official misconduct. Additional charges were expected.<br />
Prell is being held in the county jail on $10,000 cash bail.</p>

<p>The arrest comes following a criminal investigation by state police, the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Office of Special Investigations, the New York State Inspector General’s Office and the Clinton County District Attorney’s Office.<br />
Prell like Mitchell is a seamstress. She was fired after the corrections officer witnessed inappropriate behavior between her and the inmate at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora.<br />
The inmate said he began the relationship with Prell in June 2017. She started working in the prison tailor shop in the spring of 2016.<br />
The inmate told investigators the two &#8220;fell in love emotionally.&#8221;He said Prell sent him cards, letters and about $50 every two weeks. The inmate said he was transferred to a prison in Elmira and Prell visited him and the two kissed.<br />
He said they talk on the phone once or twice each week and plan to be together after he completes his sentence.</p>

<p>Prison seamstress Joyce Mitchell, was busted in 2015 for her role in the escape from the Clinton Correctional Facility of two murderers who broke out with the help of the civilian employee.<br />
53-year-old Mitchell&#8217;s role was pivotal role in the prison escape that riveted the nation and rattled residents in upstate New York. She supplied the pair with a drill bit and hacksaws smuggled into the prison in frozen hamburger meat. Matt and Sweat used the tools to cut holes in their cells and hack through underground pipes before escaping the prison grounds through a manhole.<br />
The men managed to elude an army of police officers for three weeks before Matt was killed by a border agent. Sweat was wounded by a state trooper and captured two days later just a few miles from the Canadian border.<br />
The married Mitchell had carried on a sexual relationship with Sweat in the months before the prison break, her husband, another prison staffer was fortunate not to be home when the men emerged from a manhole after their breakout.<br />
She wept as a judge sentenced her to seven years in prison in Sept. 2015.<br />
Mitchell was denied parole in February.<br />
“You present yourself more as a victim than a responsible participant and appear to be emotionally unstable and easily manipulated,” the board wrote.</p>
