<p>A married health teacher in Maine has been indicted on more than a dozen sexual assault charges after being accused of repeatedly having sex with her 17-year-old student.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Jill Lamontagne, 29, has been charged with six counts of gross sexual assault, two counts of unlawful sexual contact, and six counts of sexual abuse of a minor in Kennebunk on Wednesday.<br />
The mother-of-two was released on $1,000 bail and is scheduled to be in York County Superior Court on December 22.<br />
&#8216;The indictment was the culmination of an investigation into a relationship Lamontagne allegedly had with a juvenile, male student while she was a teacher at the school,&#8217; Kennebunk Deputy Chief of Police Michael Nugent said Wednesday, <a class="" href="http://www.seacoastonline.com/news/20171004/ex-kennebunk-teacher-indicted-for-alleged-sex-with-student" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Seacoast Online</a> reported.<br />
The claims against her came to light in mid-June after the alleged victim attempted to commit suicide.<br />
In June, a district court judge barred the former Kennebunk High School teacher from making any contact with the student for two years because of the sexual abuse complaint.</p>

<p>Lamontagne, who has been married for six years and has two young children, a son and daughter, was placed on administrative leave from the school on June 12, after the student&#8217;s family contacted school officials claiming that he had had sexual contact with the teacher, reported the <a class="" href="http://www.pressherald.com/2017/06/28/kennebunk-teacher-placed-on-leave-after-alleged-sex-with-student/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Portland Press Herald.</a></p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">According to court documents filed by the student&#8217;s mother requesting a protection order, her son was hospitalized in Maine Medical Center on June 9 after ingesting a cocktail of drugs in a failed attempt to end his life, including ibuprofen, Tylenol, cold medicine and the blood thinner, warfarin.<br />
He subsequently told a nurse that he had tried to kill himself “because of a girl&#8221;.<br />
The next day, the boy confided in his aunt that rumors about the relationship with Lamontagne were accurate. That he and his health teacher, Lamontagne, have been involved in a sexual relationship, and that he was &#8216;so sorry for all the bad things he did&#8217;.<br />
Rumors had been swirling about the boy and Lamontagne for some time, but he had previously denied them, according to<a class="" href="http://www.journaltribune.com/news/2017-06-28/JT_Beacon/Court_bars_Kbunk_teacher_from_student_contact_afte.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"> Journal Tribune.</a><br />
&#8216;He said he loved her, he said it happened numerous times, in the classroom, at her house, in her car. She told him that she hadn&#8217;t had a sexual relationship in two years,&#8217; his mother stated in the court papers.</p>

<p class="imageCaption">According to the court filing, on one occasion, Lamontagne was at Middle School of the Kennebunks teaching a workshop during a high school half-day. In that instance, “she told him to meet her at her house &#8230; [the student], walked over there and they fooled around,” the complaint states.<br />
The 17-year-old student said he felt &#8216;used&#8217; by Lamontagne, but wanted to carry on with their affair and did not want her to go to prison.<br />
The protection from abuse order was permanently granted for two years, extending a temporary order granted June 14. As part of the order, Lamontagne is not to have direct or indirect contact with the student, and is not allowed on the premises of the student&#8217;s residence.<br />
Superintendent of Regional School Unit 21 Katie Hawes said Lamontagne had taught at Kennebunk High School for five years. She was first placed on administrative leave while the school district investigated the claims against her.<br />
She has since resigned from her position as a teacher at the school. Her resignation was accepted by the school&#8217;s board of directors on September 18.</p>

<div>Lamontagne who has been teaching for five years had previously being investigated for the same allegations of &#8216;sexual misconduct with a student&#8217;, in March, and was placed on leave.</div>

<p>Two students came forward to accuse Lamontagne and the student of having a sexual relationship. The alleged victim and Lamontagne both denied the relationship to school administrators, and investigations by the school, Kennebunk Police and the state Department of Health and Human Services were closed, according to Katie Hawes, superintendent of Regional School Unit 21.<br />
Lamontagne was returned to the classroom and was subject to unspecified disciplinary measures, Hawes said.<br />
The 17-year-old student was a student of Lamontagne’s two school years ago. Lamontagne had most recently helped the boy complete all of his work so that he could graduate. This time around details of the alleged relationship were disclosed in the protection from abuse order filed in Biddeford District Court.<br />
The family sought the protection order two days after Lamontagne was placed on leave, and described in court documents how a sudden hospitalization for a suspected suicide attempt led the student to reveal the relationship to a family member, a registered nurse and a psychiatrist.</p>

<p>Lamontagne earned her Bachelor&#8217;s degree in health sciences from the University of Southern Maine in 2010, followed by a Master&#8217;s degree in inclusion education from the University of New England in 2013.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">She was hired straight out of college to work as an education technician at her alma mater, Kennebunk High School, and in 2012 she took the position of lead health teacher.<br />
Lamontagne, a self-described sports fan and half-marathon runner, also coached girls&#8217; baseball and softball at the local middle school.<br />
It is a Class C felony punishable by up to five years in prison for a teacher to engage in sexual contact with someone under age 18 who is in their care. Lamontagne was arraigned Wednesday, booked on the charges and released on $1,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear in York County Superior Court Dec. 22.</p>
