A West Virginia man was arrested Sunday after allegedly beating a woman and dumping her body over a bridge after slicing her throat. His victim survived the assault, and filed the report.
Stacy Edward Burrell was accused of assaulting the woman last Wednesday. Court documents show that deputies reported to a hospital in Princeton, where they found a woman “cold, shaking, bloody and possibly intoxicated,” according to WVNS-TV.
The woman reportedly told authorities she was staying with 59-year-old Burrell at his home in Bluefield.
They passed the time drinking liquor and doing drugs together, before Burrell allegedly physically attacked her.
She told police Burrell threw her head against a washing machine and hit it with a piece of 2-by-4 plank, “punched her in the eyes” .
“Tonight you are going to die,”  Burrell allegedly, told the woman, as he proceeded to drive her around in a vehicle before stopping at a bridge.
The suspect dragged the women from his vehicle, sliced her throat with a box cutter before throwing her body off the side of the Brush Creek Falls Bridge.
The woman survived the ordeal, and swam to land and called for help at a nearby gas station.
Police sources said they found Burrell who seemed drunk, claiming that he hadn’t seen the woman since he dropped her at her mother’s house, which he did because she was driving his vehicle and got it stuck on a rock bank.
He also told them as he was packing up her things to leave, he noticed several of his personal items including belts and jewellery were inside her bag.
The suspect denied assaulting the woman, even though the deputies said he had blood on his shorts when they interviewed him. Inside Burrell’s home, deputies found women’s clothing in the washer machine, a large drop paint cloth and blood on the fridge.
Investigators s said they also went to Brush Creek Falls where they found blood on the bridge
Burrell has been charged with malicious assault and attempted first degree murder. He is being held in the Southern Regional Jail on a $150,000 cash-only bond.
