A pair of New York detectives who described themselves as “freaks” are facing charges for gang-banging a handcuffed teenager in a police van in Coney Island after threatening to arrest her for marijuana possession, Brooklyn prosecutors said.
Detectives Eddie Martins, 37, and Richard Hall, 32, were arraigned Monday on a 50-count indictment that included charges of first-degree rape, first-degree criminal sexual act, second-degree kidnapping, official misconduct and related counts.

They each face up to 25 years in prison.
The two narcotics detectives previously were demoted in rank from probationary detective to police officer. They had already been stripped of their guns and shields and assigned to desk duty immediately after an 18-year-old woman made the claim, last month.
The officers alleged assault on the 18-year-old girl was detailed in papers released by acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.

The pair, who were assigned to Brooklyn South Narcotics squad, allegedly handcuffed the teenager in a Bath Beach park after finding marijuana and an anxiety drug in a bag next to her.
She reported the assault immediately upon release after the cops drove her to a Chipotle parking lot in Coney Island and took turns raping her while she was handcuffed.

“We’re freaks, what do you want to get out of this arrest?” detective Eddie Martins allegedly asked the teen, who was in handcuffs in an unmarked police van, before launching the assault.
The attack occurred on Sept. 15, when prosecutors said, Martins and Hall were part of a plainclothes team of detectives from Brooklyn South Narcotics conducting a “buy and bust” operation around Coney Island.

The duo allegedly left their post “without authorization” around 7:30 p.m. in an unmarked Dodge Minivan and drove to Calvert Vaux Park in nearby Gravesend, according to papers.
There they pulled over an Infiniti Coupe driven by the 18-year-old. Two of her male friends were in the car.
After the teen admitted to having some marijuana in the car, as well as two anti-anxiety Klonopin pills, the detectives said they were putting her under arrest, prosecutors said.
her two male friends were dismissed but advised to ‘retrieve her’ from the 60th Precinct station house in three hours. They were also instructed not to follow their van, according to the arrest complaint.
That’s when Martins revealed she’d been arrested by “freaks,” according to papers.
Martins then forced the handcuffed victim to perform oral sex and raped her in the backseat of the van while Hall drove and watched through the rear-view mirror, prosecutors said.
The cops then parked the van in Bay Ridge, four miles from where they were supposed to be posted, and switched places. Hall then forced the victim to perform oral sex, according to papers.
“They told her she better keep her mouth shut,” Assistant District Attorney Frank DeGaetano said.
The cops gave the teen the Klonopin pills back, told her to call her friends and released her, prosecutors said.

Young female reported she was handcuffed and raped in the back of a police van on the night of, by two armed NYPD narco detectives who claimed the sex was consensual

Video surveillance shows the victim exiting the police van at approximately 8:42 p.m.

The victim told a friend,as well well as her mother about the incident that night. The mom took her to Maimonedes Medical Center, where DNA matching the cops was recovered, papers say.
“It is incomprehensible that two veteran NYPD detectives would allegedly commit such an outrageous act. They took an oath to protect and serve, but allegedly violated that oath by raping a young woman who was in their custody,” acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said.
“We will now seek to hold them accountable for this flagrant betrayal of public trust.”
Martins was held on $250,000 bail. Hall was held on $150,000 bail.
Attorneys for both defendants noted that some of the charges appeared contradictory. Hall’s attorney, John Arlia, asked how the cops could be charged with “a vicious act” and also “taking sexual favors.”
“These charges are a schizophrenic account,” he said.
“Nothing indicating forcible rape, no bruising on the wrist. There’s a lack of credibility of the alleged victim,” he said.
Martins’ attorney, Mark Bederow, said the case will be “vigorously contested.”
