put up a novel defense by releasing a video ahead of a hearing in a state appeals court&comma; saying he is staying in office and being targeted because of his Christian beliefs&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Earlier in 2016 Paxton had sued Waller County&comma; Texas&comma; over the right to bear arms in the Waller County Courthouse complex&period; Gun rights advocates had protested the County’s actions in preventing lawful carrying pursuant to the protection of a new state law&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;The gun rights advocates accused officials in Waller County of being &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;tyrannical” &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;bullies” and abusing their power&period;<br &sol;>&NewLine;Paxton in a statement said&comma; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;A local government cannot be allowed to flout Texas’ licensed carry laws&comma; or any state law&comma; simply because it disagrees with the law or doesn’t feel like honoring it&period;”  He added&comma;
