President Trump excoriated his former right hand man Steve Bannon on Wednesday as an egotistical liar who spent his time at the White House leaking “false information” to reporters.
The serious accusations were lobbed by Trump after a scathing excerpt of an upcoming book revealed that the Breitbart News chief once blasted a contentious Trump Tower meeting in July 2016 as “treasonous” and “unpatriotic.”
“Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my Presidency,” Trump said in a statement. “When he was fired, he not only lost his job, he lost his mind.”

Without giving specifics, Trump went on to accuse his former chief strategist of feeding lies to reporters.
“Steve pretends to be at war with the media, which he calls the opposition party, yet he spent his time at the White House leaking false information to the media to make himself seem far more important than he was,” the President said.
The once omnipresent White House strategist, Steve Bannon, told author Michael Wolff, that he believes President Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., will “crack like an egg” under the pressure of the ongoing investigation into Russian election meddling.
The self-proclaimed ultra-conservative nationalist gadfly, speaking to Wolff, described the now-infamous Trump Tower meeting between the President’s eldest son accompanied by Trump top aides – brother-in-law Jarred Kushner and Paul Menafort  with a group of Russians during his father’s campaign as “treasonous” and “unpatriotic.”
Wolff’s upcoming Washington tell-all, “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,” details the inner workings of the Trump White House, according to explosive excerpts published Wednesday by the Guardian.

Bannon was top gun on Trump’s campaign team for the final three months before the 2016 election and was named as White House chief strategist after Trump took over the Oval Office.
His access to Trump’s inner circle lends credence to his predictions about the outcome of the Russia investigation.
“They’re going to crack Don Junior like an egg on national TV,” Bannon told Wolff.
Predictable, the White House lashed back as Trump retaliated, accusing Bannon of leaking to the press while in the White House.
“Steve pretends to be at war with the media, which he calls the opposition party, yet he spent his time at the White House leaking false information to the media to make himself seem far more important than he was,” Trump said. “It is the only thing he does well.”

Insiders believe Bannon, one of 200 people interviewed by Wolff, is on track when he told the author that he believes special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin is focusing on money laundering and the finances of those closest to Trump, including his son and also his son-in-law.
“You realize where this is going,” Bannon told Wolff. “This is all about money laundering. Mueller chose [Sr. prosecutor Andrew] Weissmann first and he is a money-laundering guy.
“Their path to f***king Trump goes right through Paul Manafort, Don Jr. and Jared Kushner … It’s as plain as a hair on your face,” Bannon says in the upcoming book
