<p>A man who valiantly defended his wife and the life of his unborn child is lying critically injured in a Houston area hospital after two men slit his throat during a robbery and attempted kidnapping. The incident happened outside a Whataburger restaurant in Houston.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Othon Maldonado had his neck slashed and was stabbed in the hands and neck after the suspects tried to kidnap his wife, Sandra Martinez at around 1am on December 18.<br />
The pair had made a quick stop to grab an early breakfast, but just as they got out of their car, two Hispanic men came towards them with a gun.<br />
As the suspect approached Maldonado, he then held a knife to his neck, ordering him to hand over his wallet and cellphone.<br />
Maldonado complied with the robber&#8217;s demands fearing for his own life and that of his pregnant wife, but the demands did not stop. &#8211; The two suspects then instructed Maldonado&#8217;s wife to come with them and attempted to snatch her into their black car.</p>

<div>Maldonado helped police create a composite sketch of one of the suspects. The Hispanic male is said to be between 30 and 35-years-old,between five feet seven and ten inches tall, weighing 250 pounds and has the word &#8216;Houston&#8217; tattooed on his arm.<br />
The second suspect is also reportedly between 30 to 35-years-old, between five feet seven and ten inches tall, weighs 160 to 220 pounds with short hair.</div>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Maldonado stood telling the suspects that it was simply not an option and that they could not leave with her.<br />
A struggle then broke out as the men tried to drag her into the car and one of the men whipped out a knife, slitting Maldonado&#8217;s throat.<br />
As he fell to the ground, both suspects kicked him in the face before making a getaway in their car.<br />
The men left Maldonado with him gushing blood in the parking lot according to the <a class="" href="http://www.chron.com/houston/article/Man-throat-slashed-after-trying-to-save-wife-from-12474933.php" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Houston Chronicle</a>.</p>

<p>Maldonado&#8217;s life in all probability was only saved by the quick-thinking actions of his wife, police said. Martinez quickly loaded her husband into the back of their truck and rushed him to hospital.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">The men haven&#8217;t been seen since the attack but detectives are hoping someone will recognize the man in the composite drawing before the attackers strike again.<br />
Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest or charging of suspects involving in the incident.<br />
&#8216;On a threat scale of one to ten, I&#8217;d say this guy is a ten. He&#8217;s just about as dangerous as they get.&#8217; Houston Police Robbery Detective Jeff Brieden told <a class="" href="https://www.click2houston.com/news/attackers-slash-mans-throat-during-kidnap-attempt-of-his-pregnant-wife-in-whataburger-parking-lot" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Click2Houston</a>.<br />

&#8216;He cut him up really bad. Which tells me it wouldn&#8217;t have bothered this guy one bit if he had killed him.&#8217;<br />
Both suspects are said to be Hispanic males aged between 30 and 35-years-old. Bothe men are between five feet seven and ten inches.</p>
