<p>A suspected gunman has been arrested after opening fire on a Florida high school, leaving as many as seven dead and at least 50 injured.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">The &#8216;heavily armed&#8217; shooter, named by police sources as student Nicolas Cruz, 19, an ex-student, entered <a href="https://www.browardschools1.com/stonemandouglas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School</a> in Parkland, Florida, armed with what appears to be an assault rifle, and began shooting at just after 2pm.<br />
According to police sources, Cruz was expelled from the school for disciplinary reasons.<br />
Video filmed from inside a classroom at the school, captured the moment the shooter, who was wearing a gas mask, burst in and began shooting at his fellow students who were screaming in terror.<br />
Broward Sheriff confirmed that &#8216;we have at least 14 victims&#8217; although he did not specify whether they had been injured or killed in the school which has about 2,900 Students.</p>

<p>Stoneman Douglas High School in Broward County, Florida, has been locked down Wednesday afternoon after multiple people were shot inside the school, police confirm. said that at least 50 people have been injured.<br />
The shooter, a student, is in custody, the sheriff’s office said on Twitter.Florida Senator Bill Nelson <a href="https://twitter.com/pdoocy/status/963879756138795013" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said on Fox News</a> that there have been “many deaths” at the school as a result of the shooting.<br />
Superintendent Robert Runcie confirmed there are “numerous fatalities” and said students who are still inside the school are being led out by police as they search room by room. Fire rescue officials said the situation is being treated as a mass casualty incident, with 17 fatalities and up to 50 victims injured, but the exact number of those who were wounded is not yet known.<br />
The Broward Sheriff’s Office tweeted, “So far we have at least 14 victims. Victims have been and continue to be transported to Broward Health Medical Center and Broward Health North hospital.”<br />
Twelve people died in the school, three bodies were found outside, while two of the victims succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.<br />

<a class="" href="http://www.cbs.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">CBS</a> Miami reporter Rick Folbaum said he was exchanging messages with a child still inside, who is hiding in a closet.<br />
&#8216;I&#8217;m continuing to text with a student, a young girl who I know well, who is in the building right now who told me that she heard a loud noise and what sounded like gunfire, three shots&#8217;, he said.<br />

I told my daughter not to call me because I don&#8217;t want anyone to hear her voice.&#8217;<br />
Photographs taken by students inside the school showed them crouching behind piles of chairs and hiding behind desks.<br />
The shooter reportedly fled the building when police arrived mixing in with others students leaving the school.<br />
Video showed at least five people being treated by paramedics at the scene while students were led away from the school in a line. But reports show that many more were shot and injured.</p>

<h6><strong>Heavy law enforcement presence on campus, earlier today</strong></h6>
<p>Federal authorities are responding to the scene, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which is typical in active shooter incidents.<br />
“ATF agents from the Miami Field Division are responding to reports of a school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. The investigation is ongoing and active,” the ATF tweeted.<br />
