<p>Two young children were hit and killed Monday on a Brooklyn street corner where a driver ran a light and tried to speed away.<br />
The 4-year-old girl and her 1-year-old boy were with their mothers near Ninth St. and Fifth Ave. in Park Slope when they were hit about 12:40 p.m.<br />
The four-year-old victim was later identified as the daughter of Tony-winning actress Ruthie Ann Miles. The second fatality was also identified as one-year-old Josh Lew. His mom Lauren Lew is one of the three adults injured in Monday&#8217;s deadly motoring incident in Brooklyn, New York, when the children were hit and killed by a woman who ran a red light.<br />
The driver identified as 44-year-old Dorothy Bruns of Staten Island was driving in Park Slope, Brooklyn when she ran a red light and hit and killed one-year-old Josh and four-year-old Abigail.</p>

<p>Abigail is the daughter of Ruth Blumenstein, the theater actress known as Ruthie Ann Miles, who won a Tony Award in 2015 for her role in &#8216;The King and I.&#8217;<br />
Both mothers, Miles and Lew, sustained injuries. A fifth victim was also taken with the mothers to the New York Presbyterian Methodist Brooklyn Hospital for treatment.<br />
Witnesses said one of the women who is pregnant, was critically injured and was taken to the hospital, bleeding from the head.<br />
Medics rushed the four victims to Methodist Hospital, but the two children could not be saved. Two other 34-year-old women who also suffered minor injuries,were listed in stable condition.<br />
“Those two kids were run over like dogs,” a shell-shocked witness said.<br />
The driver, Dorothy Bruns, 44, attempted to speed away but was stopped by witnesses on the street, cops said. Police officers took her into custody shortly after the tragic incident.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">The two kids, the pregnant woman and another mother had just gotten off the bus and were crossing the street when a woman driving a white Volvo driven by Bruns sped through the intersection at 9th Street and Fifth Avenue and struck the family.<br />
When the driver came to the intersection at Fifth Ave., she looked both ways and kept going, even though the light was red, the witness recalled.<br />
The car hit several people and plowed over the two children, witness Jennifer Muñiz told NY Daily News. The little boy was pinned in his stroller under the car and dragged over 100 years.</p>

<p>The girl was flat on the pavement in a puddle of blood, a horrified witness recalled.<br />
But the driver didn’t seem too concerned.<br />
“When they took her out she was just standing there, like nothing,” Muñiz said. “No emotion. Not sad. Not crying. Not asking questions: ‘Is everybody alright?’ Not shaking. Nothing.”<br />
An EMT sat the driver on a stretcher, checked her eyes, and then handed over her purse and phone.</p>

<p>“She was texting on her cell phone like nothing happened,&#8221; Muñiz said. “Like she had just parked the car.”<br />
The driver, Bruns ,told police she had a medical condition, and was taken to a nearby hospital,<br />
She told officers that she was creeping up a bit at the intersection in anticipation of the red light changing and then accidentally hit the accelerator.</p>
