Police search for a missing Pennsylvania teen and her almost middle-aged paramour took a an international turn Thursday, as the search extended into Mexico.
Allentown police are still looking for 16-year-old Amy Yu  and 45-year-old man they believe ran away together after their ‘secretive relationship’ was discovered by family members and school officials.
On Thursday Mexican authorities have issued an Amber Alert for a missing Allentown teen and a 45-year-old man who signed her out of school, saying the pair is believed to be traveling through the country.
The alert posted to Twitter Thursday night says police believe 16-year-old Amy Yu and Kevin Esterly are in Mexico, and Amy may be in danger.

Police believe Yu willingly went with Esterly. The two went missing March 5th, shortly after authorities were notified the pair may have been involved in a romantic relationship. Amy’s family previously said the two met at church years ago, and Amy is friends with one of Esterly’s daughters.
Esterly, who is married, allegedly had a secretive relationship with Yu, according to a criminal complaint filed by Allentown police. School records show Esterly signed Amy out of school 10 times between Nov. 13 and Feb. 9. Police say Amy had changed school documents to list him as her stepfather.
The teenager and Esterly have both been reported missing since March 5, from Allentown, in eastern Pennsylvania, about 60 miles north of Philadelphia.
The two were last seen on or that Monday, and authorities believe they are together, said Bill Reinik, assistant chief of police for the Allentown Police Department.

In the complaint, which alleges interference with the custody of a child by Esterly and requests the issuance of a warrant for his arrest, police said they were informed by Esterly’s wife that $4,000 was withdrawn from her bank account and that Esterly’s personal documents and car were gone.
Yu’s mother told police that money, jewelry and the teen’s personal documents were taken from her residence without her permission, according to the complaint.
Yu who is a student at Lehigh Valley Academy, met Esterly at church and she appears to have been friends with one of Esterly’s daughters,
When Yu was asked by members of the Leigh Country Child Advocacy Center whether she was having a relationship with Esterly, she denied it, Hammer said.

However, Yu altered her school records and listed Esterly as her stepfather, Hammer added. And at least 10 times between December and Feb. 9, Esterly signed her out of school early.
Feb. 9 was the final day because that’s when Yu’s mother came to the school to pick up her daughter, “and the school said her stepfather already signed her out of school” .
“The mom explained she is a single mother,” Hammer said. “There is no stepfather.”
The school called the Colonial Regional Police immediately and it started investigating. The department found video of Esterly signing the teen out and leaving with her, police said.

Lehigh Valley Academy confirmed that Esterly has been on school grounds before and was last there on Feb. 9.
“After that date, due to circumstances we cannot disclose pursuant to student privacy constraints, he was prohibited from entering school grounds, and the police were to be notified if he returned,” the school said in a statement.
Assistant police chief Reinik said authorities believe the pair are likely following media reports of the investigation.
“They have the ability to read what’s going on and are interested in reading what’s going on,” he said. “We don’t want Mr. Esterly watching the internet and knowing what our next move is.”
Police contacted Stacey Esterly, who said she last saw her husband about 6:05 a.m. Monday. His personal documents were missing and, she said, he had withdrawn $4,000 from her bank account.
Yu stands at 4 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 90 pounds, police said , while Kevin Esterly is listed at 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing about 185 pounds.
