<p>A high school teacher who admitted having an underage student&#8217;s baby after spending three years grooming him is facing prison time. Prosecutors said Laura Lynn Cross a former Ohio english teacher conceived a love child with a teen student she sexually coerced and who fathered her child.<br />
Cross, 37, of Tallmadge, Ohio admitted three counts of sexual battery and is due to be sentenced in May. The plea deal concluded the trial where she had been facing charges of having a baby with her teen pupil who she partly adopted after saying she could &#8220;mentor&#8221; him, relatives told authorities.<br />
The former high school teacher pled guilty on Friday to charges stemming from her three-year relationship with the student that resulted in her having his child.<br />
The affair started with the pupil making trips to her house playing in her swimming pool, and eventually to <a href="https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/4230994/female-teacher-sex-with-pupil-affair-has-baby/">him staying the night and finally moving in and having a child</a>.</p>

<p>Cross was the boy’s teacher in 2012, when he was a 15-year-old freshman at Buchtel High School, the news station reports. She later convinced his mother to let her adopt him, and the boy moved into Cross’ home in August 2013.<br />
She quit her job as a teacher in January 2015, a month after she gave birth to the boy’s child, according to WEWS.<br />
The teenager&#8217;s dad told a local news station in Cleveland, Ohio: &#8220;They were having sex.&#8221;<br />
The father, who does not live with his son, has made his claims in an interview with local TV.<br />
The 37-year-old teacher and mother-of-two allegedly started<em> </em>‘grooming’ the boy when she was his eighth grade English teacher at Buchtel High School in Akron, in 2012.<br />
<span class="s2">Cross at one point was able to convince the boy’s mother </span><span class="s1">to let the boy move into her Tallmadge home as part of a court approved ‘partial parental custody’ arrangement because she was his ‘mentor’.<br />
</span>The teen&#8217;s father says he first raised concerns to both a Buchtel High School official and Tallmadge Police as early as 2012 when his son was a freshman&#8211;but no charges were filed.<br />
Even more disturbing, Cross convinced the teen&#8217;s mother, the custodial parent, to allow the student to move in with her in her Tallmadge home through a court approved &#8220;partial parental custody&#8221; arrangement.</p>

<p class="p3">She will be sentenced May 24 by Summit County Common Pleas Judge Tammy O’Brien and could face a lengthy time behind bars.<br />
Prosecutors revealed Cross began a three-year sexual relationship with the boy in 2014.<br />
At the time, the teen was living with Cross, who was his legal guardian.<br />
She gave birth to the boy’s son in December the following year.<br />
Initially, the <span class="s1">birth was kept secret until someone recently notified the boy’s father, asking him if he <em>‘knew he was a grandfather…’</em><br />
She was eventually arrested and charged August 2017,after police were informed she had given birth in 2015 to the student’s child.<br />

<p>The lad’s mum filed a complaint with Akron police in June 2015 about the affair.<br />
She also contacted Summit County prosecutors and police in Tallmadge, where her son was living with Cross.<br />
The woman and teenager had posed for many pictures together.<br />
The boy&#8217;s father told the channel: &#8220;First of all, she&#8217;s a schoolteacher.<br />
&#8220;To get aroused by a child basically you have to be a sick individual.&#8221;<br />
He added: &#8220;I was told by the school that she had a &#8216;hold&#8217; on him and he was not cooperating so basically they can&#8217;t do nothing with it.&#8221;</p>
