<div class="entry-content entry-content-read-more">Bonnie Jean Colwell, was engaged to DeAngelo in the early 1970s, but broke it off, and went on to marry a wealthy accountant.“Most certainly if he’s making the statement, ‘I hate you Bonnie,’ while he’s attacking another female, he is what we call a retaliatory rapist,” Paul Holes, a retired Contra Costa investigator who helped crack the case told the Mercury News.<br />
“You’ve got to think Bonnie dumped him, he’s not happy about that, he still had feelings for her, who knows? But something along those lines must have happened,” he added.<br />
DeAngelo met Bonnie Colwell when they were both students at Sierra College in Rocklin, California, in the Sacramento area.<br />
The couple announced their engagement in the May 14, 1970.</p>

Ueltzen, 67, who currently resides in Sacramento, is reportedly, now is in “hiding”.<br />
DeAngelo from the Sacramento suburb of Citrus Heights, was arrested on Tuesday. Police believe he is responsible for at least 12 murders, 51 rapes and 120 home invasion burglaries over three decades, beginning in 1976.<br />
Joseph James DeAngelo Jr., a 72-year-old father of three daughters, was arraigned on two counts of murder and is being investigated in connection with more than six more killings, thanks to DNA evidence, officials said.<br />

<p>Dressed in regulation orange jumpsuit, the 72-year-od retiree who was handcuffed in a wheelchair, was arraigned on charges that he killed a Sacramento County couple in 1978, the commencement of a killing spree he allegedly committed between Northern California and Orange County. he came to be known as the Golden State Killer.<br />
He sat expressionless suspect who was surprised , authorities eventually caught up with him on Tuesday, did not enter a plea.<br />
He occasionally closed his eyes as Judge Michael W. Sweet listed the charges against him. and responded in a soft voice that he had a lawyer and understood the charges against him.</p>

<p>DeAngelo Jr. worked as a cop in the Exeter Police Department from 1973 to 1976 later in Auburn from 1976 until 1979, before being dismissed for shoplifting a hammer and a can of dog repellent. Authorities said they said they are now looking into whether he may have been on duty when he committed at least some of his heinous acts.<br />
He was busted on two counts of murder and arrested in connection with several more killings, thanks to DNA evidence, officials said. In addition to the two murder charges in Sacramento County, he also faces two counts of murder in Ventura County and four counts of murder in Orange County. Held without bail, DeAngelo is being housed in isolation and on suicide watch, while in custody, sheriff&#8217;s officials said.<br />
Authorities are still working on collecting evidence against him to bring more charges against the Navy veteran and former police officer was arrested Wednesday and identified as the Golden State Killer.<br />

The suspect who authorities had under surveillance for the past few days was finally nailed by matching DNA material he recently discarded, to bio evidence collected from crime scenes decades ago.<br />
Police matched DNA from items he discarded with samples found at his many crime scenes. They used a sample from an Internet genealogy site submitted by a distant relative to narrow their search to him, according to the <a class="class" href="http://www.sacbee.com/latest-news/article209913514.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Sacramento Bee</a>.<br />
Investigators compared crime scene DNA to online open-source profiles until they found the relative.<br />
After months of comparisons, investigators finally narrowed the DNA evidence in the cold case down to DeAngelo on April 20 and began surveilling him. A day later they got a DNA sample from an item he discarded.<br />
The county crime lab found ‘overwhelming evidence’ that after 44 years they had finally got their man, Sacramento County Chief Deputy Attorney Steve Grippi said.<br />
Requiring a second match to make a convincing case, that sample was recovered on Monday.<br />
‘The second sample was astronomical evidence that it was him,’ district attorney Anne Marie Schubert said, adding, ‘There were a whole lot of holy s**t moments.’<br />

DeAngelo&#8217;s last known victim was 18-year-old Janelle Lisa Cruz who was murdered on May 4, 1986. Cruz was home alone when she was bludgeoned to death in her family&#8217;s home in Irvine. Police sources said she was beaten with a pipe wrench.<br />
A real estate agent who was selling the family&#8217;s home was the first to discover the gory scene. Cops found the teenager her lying across her bed, blood was found spattered throughout the home.</p>
