<p>The judge found Lamar Davenport guilty of stabbing E&#8217;Dena Hines 25 times with a knife, outside the couple&#8217;s New York apartment building.<br />
The conviction could mean a 25 year stint in prison, 33-year-old Davenport who showed no emotion faced as the judge rendered her verdict.<br />
Davenport, according to court documents, stabbed Hines 25 times in the street in Washington Heights on August 16, 2015, at 2.50am.<br />
His attorneys argued that he was not guilty of the violent crime by reason of insanity because he was in the throes of a drug-induced psychosis at the time of the attack.</p>

<p>He was high on PCP when he straddled her and repeatedly plunged the knife into her body while screaming, &#8220;I love you. I always loved you. God would have wanted this,&#8221; witness Xavier Gardere testified at the trial.<br />
Hines and Davenport, a rapper, had been living together in a $780,000 apartment that Freeman had bought for Hines.</p>

<p>Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Ellen Biben acquitted the boyfriend of murder charges, adopting a version his lawyer&#8217;s defense that he was emotionally disturbed due to a drug-induced psychosis when he stabbed her. The judge did not explain her verdict.</p>

<p>Another witness, Cristina Aviles, told the court that Davenport was raving about the devil as he attacked his girlfriend.</p>

Hines was the actor&#8217;s stepdaughter who he adopted when he married her mom, Jeanette Adair Bradshaw. He raised E&#8217;Dena even after he divorced from his fist wife.<br />
In a bombshell development during the trial, Davenport revealed that the Oscar-winning actor had an on-and-off sexual relationship with his adopted granddaughter.<br />
Davenport&#8217;s attorneys introduced into evidence text message exchanges in which the victim talked about &#8216;grandpa feelings.&#8217;</p>

<p>Days earlier during the trial, Davenport&#8217;s lawyer Annie Costanzo stated in court that not long before her death in August 2015, E&#8217;Dena Hines, told her boyfriend and others that ‘her grandfather engaged in a sexually inappropriate relationship with her.’<br />
On July 3, 2015, about six weeks before she was slaughtered outside her apartment building in Washington Heights, Hines texted Davenport to tell him that she was having issues with an older man.<br />

During the exchange, the pair talked about Hines’ &#8216;grandpa,&#8217; with Davenport writing to his girlfriend that &#8216;when it comes to&#8230;your grandfather, there&#8217;s a submissive love that will always be there.&#8217;</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Opinions differed on why the defense chose to disclose the information in open court, or how it might be relevant to the murder case. &#8211; But a therapist testified that Davenport admitted to frequent arguments with Hines about infidelity during which each accused the other of being unfaithful.<br />

Freeman and his second wife then helped raise the girl.<br />
Rumors about Freeman and Hines have been swirling for nearly a decade, beginning in 2009 when The National Enquirer<a class="class" href="https://www.nationalenquirer.com/celebrity/morgan-freeman-set-wed-granddaughter-edena/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"> published</a> a story alleging that the Hollywood A-lister was involved in a years-long affair with his step-granddaughter.<br />
The magazine also quote a friend of hers saying she wanted to marry the actor.<br />
Three years before Hines&#8217; violent death, it was reported that Freeman was planning to marry her, but they both vehemently denied being romantically involved.<br />
&#8216;The recent reports of any pending marriage or romantic relationship of me to anyone are defamatory fabrications from the tabloid media designed to sell papers,&#8217; Freeman said in a statement in 2012.<br />
&#8216;What is even more alarming is that these fabrications are now being picked up by the legitimate press as well.&#8217;</p>

<p>Hines, then aged 27, said: &#8216;These stories about me and my grandfather are not only untrue, they are also hurtful to me and my family.&#8217;</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Morgan was married to Jeanette Adair Bradshaw from 1967 until 1979.<br />
He then married costume designer Myrna Colley-Lee on June 16, 1984, and the two later adopted his step-granddaughter E&#8217;dena and raised her together.<br />
The couple finally divorced in 2010 after a messy break up.<br />
During their nine-year relationship, Davenport fathered children with other women and abused drugs.</p>

<p>Davenport who initially denied the killing was taken to a psychiatric facility immediately after her death but has been in custody ever since.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">A witness testified how Hines was repeatedly stabbed in the back, neck and chest by Davenport, who was heard yelling about releasing the devil from her.<br />
The jury was also shown footage recorded by Hines just hours before her death, which showed her intoxicated boyfriend sitting at a table with friends and angrily yelling at her to stop filming.</p>
