The possessive Arizona man told police he had previous thoughts about shooting his girlfriend, who he ultimately killed her last week, by his own admission, in a jealous rage after he saw the way she was dressed.
Police say Martin Larney, 22, admitted to shooting dead Alina Duwyenie, also 22, in the eye Sunday morning at his apartment complex located near Broadway Road and Country in Mesa.
Larney’s brother, who lives with him, heard a gunshot go off and Larney yelling his girlfriend’s name, when he hurried into his room.
The suspect’s brother told police he found Larney grabbing Duwyenie by the head and noticed a gun nearby on the couch.
Court documents state Duwyenie suffered ‘an apparent gunshot wound to her left eye.’
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Larney provided three different accounts about the Sunday morning events during questioning.
