<p>Travis County police arrested Johnny Ramon Leon, 21, in connection with the alleged <a href="https://konniemoments.com/2018/05/31/teen-son-girlfriend-arrested-in-death-o-of-prominent-texas-jeweler-theodore-shaughnessy-shot-dead-in-a-home-invasion-nicolas-shaughnessy-and-jaclyn-edison-both-19-allegedly-behind-murder-for/">murder-for-hire shooting of a 55-year-old Austin man </a>that took place in March.<br />
Police believe Leon was involved in the plot to kill Ted Shaughnessy, the owner of an Austin jewelry business. The plan was allegedly solicited by the slain victim&#8217;s son and daughter-in-law, <a href="https://www.mystatesman.com/news/crime--law/this-the-shooter-year-old-charged-austin-jeweler-death/cGWt5lr750v9jKsbXASoHM/">reports the Austin-American Statesman</a>.<br />
Leon was arrested Wednesday morning in College Station and charged with criminal solicitation of capital murder. Leon&#8217;s arrest affidavit indicates he was associated with the planning of the murder-for-hire.<br />

<p>A spokesperson for Travis County Sheriff&#8217;s Office <a href="https://www.kvue.com/article/news/local/third-suspect-arrested-in-austin-jewelers-death-court-documents-show/269-572763847" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told KVUE </a> police also have reason to believe Leon is one of the two shooters that killed Ted Shaughnessy in his home on March 2.<br />
TCSO deputies arrested a third suspect connected to the murder-for-hire death of an Austin jeweler.<br />
Police said they connected the hired killing back to Nicolas Shaughnessy, the victim&#8217;s son, and Jaclyn Edison, the victim&#8217;s daughter-in-law.</p>

<p>A law enforcement source tells KVUE that Leon was the shooter, but at a news conference today Travis County Sheriff Sally Hernandez wouldn’t confirm that.<br />
But when KVUE News asked if this was the missing piece to the investigative puzzle, Sheriff Hernandez responded, &#8220;we do feel very confident that this is the big piece.&#8221; Spokesperson Kristen Dark later clarified that they have reason to believe that Leon is one of the shooters involved in this case.|<br />
Court documents show Nick Shaughnessy believed he would get $8 million when his parents died.<br />
Sheriff Hernandez said they discovered Leon through hours of watching surveillance footage from Ted Shaughnessy&#8217;s home security system.</p>

<p>Police said Shaughnessy and Edison may have been attempting to collect $8 million worth of life insurance payouts and the sale of Ted Shaughnessy&#8217;s jewelry business <a href="https://www.theeagle.com/news/local/college-station-man-is-third-person-arrested-in-march-slaying/article_11aaa091-a663-58d0-92c7-7755c046ad00.html">reported the Bryan-College Station Eagle</a>.<br />
Leon is currently being held at the Travis County Correctional Complex on a $3 million bond.</p>
