<p class="mol-para-with-font">Prominent public defender in northwestern Indiana, Tracy Edward Page, 64, was just two weeks away from retirement when prosecutors say he was shot dead at his home by a longtime client and friend.<br />
Lake County Prosecutor Bernard Carter says Hobart police have arrested an 83-year-old suspect in the shooting death Wednesday morning of 64-year-old Tracy Edward Page. The suspect was a client of Page&#8217;s in a civil case.<br />
During a press conference Wednesday afternoon, police said Page invited his client to his home in the 1200 block of West 4th Street to collect some documents.</p>

<p>The murder suspect arrived at his lawyer&#8217;s gated residence at 11.45am, accompanied by his two daughters, pulled out a gun and shot Page four times without uttering a single word, reported <a class="class" href="https://chicago.cbslocal.com/2018/08/15/hobart-attorney-t-edward-page-shot-killed-suspect-in-custody/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">CBS Chicago.</a><br />
Police said Page&#8217;s husband tackled the gunman and wrested the murder weapon out of his hands.<br />
The octogenarian was arrested at the scene by police officers; he is expected to be formally charged on Friday.<br />
Officials have not disclosed the name of the alleged killer, but <a class="class" href="https://www.nwitimes.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/sources-suspect-in-prominent-attorney-s-homicide-is-husband-of/article_20f2e452-a023-52bc-845a-e21263ee485c.html#anchor_item_30" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">The Times of Northwest Indiana</a> reported on Thursday, citing sources with direct knowledge of the investigation, that the accused shooter is William &#8216;Bill&#8217; Landske.</p>

<div>Landske, a father of five grown children and a grandfather of seven, lost his wife, state Senator Sue Landske, to lung cancer in February 2015. She was 77 years old.</div>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Senator Landske was friends with Page, and he delivered a eulogy at her memorial service in March of that year.<br />
Page was a lawyer with the firm Thiros &; Thiros in Merrillville and worked as Lake County public defender for the past 10 years.<br />
He also served as magistrate judge of the Lake Superior Court from October 1984 to 2000.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Described as &#8216;a lawyer’s lawyer, a very compassionate person and a good man.&#8217; by other members of the Indiana bar, Page reportedly, planned to teach law and serve as a part-time judge.<br />
Bill Landske served two terms on the Cedar Lake Town Council from 2004 to 2011.<br />
So far, police have not revealed a possible motive behind the seemingly cold-blooded killing.</p>
