<p class="mol-para-with-font">A 15-year-old &#8216;sociopath&#8217; who spent half an hour throttling his mother to death with his bare hands as she fought for her life after a row over bad grades appeared in court on Sunday where he was denied bail and remanded in custody.<br />
Gregory Logan Ramos is accused of murdering his mother Gail Cleavenger, 46, in her own bed at their family home in Florida shortly after midnight on Friday Nov, 2.<br />
He then enlisted two of his friends to help him stage a burglary in his home and called 911 to report his mother missing.<br />
Gregory was arrested after confessing to killing his mother it during police questioning.<br />
Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood described the schoolboy as &#8216;soulless&#8217;, said he showed no remorse, and is &#8216;among the top three sociopaths I have ever encountered&#8217;.<span class="mol-style-bold"><br />

<p class="mol-para-with-font">On Sunday, he was ordered to a juvenile detention facility for the next 21 days. His two friends were allowed to return home where they will be monitored by ankle bracelets.<br />
On November 2, after Ramos and his mother had a row for the D grade she then called his father, who was on a business trip, to tell him about it.<br />
She went to bed afterwards at 11pm.<br />
rhe teenager waited for 90 minutes then crept into her bedroom and tried to strangle her at 12.30am.<br />
She woke up and fought him, scratching his face and trying to throw him off.<br />
Eventually, he overpowered her. She died at 1am on Friday and he proceeded to bury her on with his pals.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Chitwood told the <a class="class" href="https://www.news-journalonline.com/news/20181103/15-year-old-university-high-student-accused-of-strangling-burying-mother" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Daytona Beach News-Journal </a>that the boys chose the pit because the soil was loose and could be easily dug up.<br />
After burying the body eight inches deep, Ramos returned home and went to school, but left early in order to establish his alibi.<br />
Arriving home, Ramos placed what he called a &#8216;Grammy-winning&#8217; 911 call to report the burglary, using hints from classes in criminal justice he took at University High to try and give a flavor of truth to his web of lies.<br />
He also reported his mother missing and said there was a van with the engine running sitting in his driveway.<br />
acoring to Sheriff Chitwood, detectives suspected the story from the start and brought Ramos in for questioning.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">But rather than expressing guilt or remorse, Chitwood said he seemed proud.<br />
&#8216;He had no sign of remorse. He is a soulless individual,&#8217; Chitwood said.<br />
&#8216;He was very proud of his work and he wanted to show it off. To watch how cold and callous he was when talking about it was the most shocking thing to me.&#8217;<br />
Chitwood said that Ramos tried to justify his actions as &#8216;preemptive self-defense&#8217;, and was convinced that &#8216;he had to kill [Gail] before she killed him&#8217;.<br />
He added that there was no evidence of this, and no evidence that Gail had been abusive toward him.<br />
Cleavenger returned home Friday night to discover his wife was missing, before Ramos confessed to killing her early on Saturday.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Ramos confessed to using a wheelbarrow to move Gail&#8217;s body into the family van and then drove to River City Church 1.5 miles away where he buried her in a fire pit.<br />
At first he drove to Daytona&#8217;s Holly Hill area to dump her corpse but headed back to find a shovel before heading to the church.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Meanwhile his friends staged the break-in before convening in a nearby Circle K store to get their formulate a story. Ramos allegedly helped create the story using his training as a part of Orange City Police Explorers.<br />
Chitwood said he had hoped to become a homicide detective in future.<br />
After taking down Ramos&#8217;s confession on Saturday, authorities went to the fire pit and exhumed Gail&#8217;s body.<br />
Chitwood added that this was &#8216;one of the most disturbing and saddest I&#8217;ve seen in my career&#8217;. &#8216;I have a feeling this is a case we&#8217;ll be hearing about for years to come.<br />
&#8216;All our hearts break for this family,&#8217; he added on Twitter.</p>
