<div>A US Marine faces charges for allegedly killing his newlywed wife after “blacking out” at a military ball they attended as a couple, according to officials.</div>

<p>Rodolfo Rivera Valencia, 24, was charged with murder in connection with the Nov. 3 death of his 20-year-old wife, Natasha Soto Rivera, at a Marriott hotel in Arlington, Virginia, <a href="https://www.fredericksburg.com/news/crime_courts/stafford-man-accused-of-killing-his-wife-after-marine-corps/article_2f89bab8-78e9-510c-aec9-e35be35261ab.html">The Free Lance-Star reported.</a><br />
Valencia and Soto Rivera, who was also a Marine, went on a date to the Marine Corps ball Nov. 2 at the hotel, which is about 30 miles from the base where they are stationed in Quantico.</p>

<p>Police said Valencia called 911 the next morning and told dispatchers he believed he killed his wife.<br />
Responding officers discovered Soto Rivera dead with injuries that indicated she had been strangled and endured a “brutal” beating, according to The Free Lance-Star.<br />
Valencia told detectives that he drank to the point of “blacking out” and didn’t recall how his wife died. He also said he has an anger problem.<br />
He is being held without bond at the Arlington County Detention Center.<br />
The couple who had been married for less than eight months lived on Madison Court in North Stafford with their infant son and were members of the Marine Corps stationed at Quantico, .</p>
