<p class="mol-para-with-font">A paedophile police officer who got his job despite being named in three sex investigations, was brazen enough to post a selfie of his grinning face on his way home from raping a 13-year-old girl. Ian Naude and now faces years in jail.<br />
Naude, 30, met the child responding to a domestic incident at her family home in Liverpool, UK and began grooming her by exchanging sexual images and messages. He then took her away in his car, took her to a secluded spot, and attacked her in the back seat.<br />
On Thursday, a jury at Liverpool Crown Court found him guilty of rape and sexual assault, as well as four charges of attempting to arrange the commission of a child sex offence and one charge of arranging a child sex offence, relating to five complainants aged between 12 and 15.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Naude who is a father-of-one started working for the police as a student officer in April 2017, despite being named in connection with two child grooming cases in neighbouring force areas and the rape of a woman.<br />
The trial also revealed another official bungle of the investigation, when Naude copied into a police email detailing plans to arrest him after the rape was reported. This gave him time to delete 756 images from his phone.<br />
The court had been told the 30-year-old, who police believe may have more victims who have yet to come forward, had been acting on an &#8216;ever increasing interest in young girls&#8217; over the past six or seven years.<br />
Naude posted as a 15-year-old boy called &#8216;Jake Green&#8217; while grooming his victims.<br />
The court was told Naude, based at Crewe police station, would gain the trust of young girls by posing on social media as a 15-year-old boy called Jake Green.<br />
He also had a Facebook account under the name of Bruce Ian Wayne, an apparent reference to superhero Batman, and a Snapchat account named King Of The North &#8211; possibly aping a character in Game of Thrones.<br />
He would persuade his victims to undress and sometimes perform sexual acts on camera before sending them pictures and video of himself masturbating, the court heard.<br />
In some cases he then threatened to send the photos on to other people on their Facebook friends list and on one occasion told a victim he would harass her friends, including one who self-harmed, unless she sent him photos.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">The court heard after the rape was reported Naude was accidentally copied into a police email revealing the plan to arrest him.<br />
When his phone was seized 756 images had been deleted from it.<br />
Other devices, including a laptop and another phone, were later discovered in a field in Market Drayton after he gave a hand-drawn map of their location to his cellmate.<br />
Naude will be sentenced on December 13.<br />
An investigation by the Independent Office of Police Conduct into the vetting process and employment of rogue cop found there was no case to answer for misconduct for any individual officer.<br />
Acting chief constable Janette McCormick, who has personally apologised to the family of the rape victim, said the case had prompted a lot of &#8216;soul searching&#8217; among officers.<br />
She said: &#8216;In light of this case, the constabulary has looked long and hard at its own recruitment and screening programme for new recruits to see whether this type of incident can be avoided in the future.&#8217;</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">Chief Constable McCormick said the force had changed its processes so if there was a delay in the recruitment process of more than three months further checks would be carried on national police systems.<br />
Checks on police systems and complaint records are also now undertaken for all officers completing the probation period of two years and training of new staff has been reviewed.<br />
She said: &#8216;He didn&#8217;t join to be a police officer, he joined as a predator.&#8217;<br />
Investigations into Naude, of Market Drayton in Shropshire, are ongoing and officers believe there may be more victims who have not yet come forward.<br />
Detective Chief Superintendent Aaron Duggan said: &#8216;We do know that he has committed this offending for a considerable length of time and there may well be other people out there, other victims, who think they have been subjected to offending by Naude, not just as a police officer but before he joined the force.&#8217;<br />
McCormick said officers had gone through records of all the contact Naude had with people as an officer and there were investigations continuing as a result.<br />
She said colleagues in the force had been &#8216;rocked and shocked&#8217; as details of Naude&#8217;s offending had been revealed.While grooming this victim, Naude asks how old she is before calling her &#8216;sexy&#8217; and &#8216;baby&#8217;</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">The senior officer added: &#8216;I am disgusted, appalled, angry at the behaviour of Ian Naude, his predatory behaviour and how he groomed young girls.<br />
&#8216;Thankfully, the bravery of that one girl to come forward meant that we arrested him the day after, we suspended him, we have disciplined him and removed him from the organisation.<br />
A police spokesperson observed that &#8216;Naude preyed on the vulnerability of this young girl, using his trusted position as a police officer to commit the most horrific acts of abuse.<br />
&#8216;The fact he tried to defend his actions claiming it was consensual is despicable, as a police officer he would know a child under 16 cannot consent. Naude&#8217;s actions will have a lasting impact on all his young victims and they should be given every support to move forward&#8217;.</p>
