<p class="mol-para-with-font">The wife of a University of Central Florida faculty member found dead in his home was arrested on a murder charge on Wednesday after claiming her husband had ‘stabbed himself’.<br />
Danielle Redlick, 45, of Winter Park, Orlando, waited 11 hours to call the authorities and report the ‘tragedy’ of 65-year-old Michael Redlick’s death on January 12 – and even checked her messages on a dating app before making the call, authorities said.<br />
‘He’s stiff and he might have had a heart attack. I don’t know,’ she first claimed, according to a charging affidavit.But this was quickly changed to the mother-of-two insisting her husband had ‘stabbed himself’ following a dispute between the couple.<br />

‘We had an altercation and he stabbed himself, and I ran and hid in the bathroom and when I came out I was trying to help him and saw he was lying in blood and then I tried to help him and I couldn’t,’ she told the 911 dispatcher, according to the affidavit obtained by the <a class="class" href="https://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/breaking-news/os-ne-danielle-redlick-murder-michael-redlick-20190206-story.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Orlando Sentinel</a>.<br />
But two days after Michael Redlick&#8217;s death, medical examiners determined he had died of a stab wound that was not self-inflicted.<br />
Investigators noted the scene and victim had been tampered with. Bloody towers were found around the victim and the house smelled strongly of bleach.<br />
Explaining why she didn’t immediately call police, Redlick &#8211; who has two children aged 15 and 11 &#8211; told the authorities that she was scared and exhausted, having fell asleep next to her husband’s body after attempting CPR.<br />
However, Redlick’s phone showed she was checking messages on a dating app, MeetMindful, around two hours before her 911 call, the affidavit states. Redlick also claimed she kept slipping on her husband&#8217;s blood while trying to help him and so cleaned the area with towels.<br />

According to the arrest report, Redlick rang the emergency services at around 9.30am on the Saturday morning &#8211; 11 hours after she said the fight with her ‘drunk, angry’ husband first began.<br />
It started when he spat a piece of a McDonald’s hamburger into her face, Redlick told police. But two days following Michael Redlick&#8217; death in his Winter Park home, medical examiners determined he had died of a stab wound that was not self-inflicted.</p>

<p class="mol-para-with-font">She then claims to have grabbed a serrated knife from the couple’s kitchen before her husband snatched the blade from her and ‘began making stabbing motions toward himself,’ Redlick told officers.<br />
Court records purportedly show Redlick had filed for divorce from Mr Redlick in March 2018, describing their then 13-year marriage as ‘irretrievably broken’.<br />
Yet a judge apparently dismissed the petition in November, indicating that Mr Redlick had not been properly served the divorce papers.Officers were informed by those who knew the couple that their relationship was ‘rocky’ and ‘toxic’.<br />

Following her husband’s death, Redlick was taken to a local hospital by paramedics as she had tried to harm herself. Her medical records revealed she had alcohol in her system.<br />
At the time, Redlick was on probation from a January 2018 arrest in Seminole County for resisting an officer.<br />
She was arrested on a probation violation charge on January 23.<br />
Prior to his death, Michael Redlick, who was the director of external affairs and partnership relations for the DeVos Sport Business Management Program at UCF, told a witness his wife was ‘crazy but as long as I hide the steak knives I should be good’, according to the report.<br />
Redlick has been charged with second-degree murder and tampering with evidence and was booked into the Orange County Jail on Wednesday.</p>

A person who knew the Redlicks told detectives their relationship was “rocky” and “toxic,” records show. Another friend said Danielle Redlick would get angry when she drank too much, and once started throwing punches after about five drinks on a night out.<br />
After her husband’s death, paramedics took Danielle Redlick to a hospital because she had tried to hurt herself, records show. Her medical records revealed she had alcohol in her system.<br />
