Amanda O’Nan, the principal of Hilton Head Island High School on Hilton Head Island, was reprimanded by administrators on Tuesday.

Since January, O’Nan has been under investigation by Beaufort County School District and the South Carolina Department of Education.
She has consistently denied having sex with DeJuan Holmes, a former sheriff’s deputy, on school grounds, contrary to reports filed by her estranged husband against her alleged lover with the police department.
O’Nan however, did acknowledge that she had put ‘herself in a sensitive position by meeting an individual for reasons unrelated to school business on school grounds after hours’.

The investigation was prompted by an admission from former Beaufort County Sheriff’s Deputy Staff Sgt. Holmes, who told authorities that he and O’Nan were having an extramarital affair while he was on duty, according to The State.
Authorities learned of the affair in April 2016, when O’Nan’s then-husband, Chris O’Nan, filed a complaint with the sheriff’s office against Holmes, who was a deputy at the time. Chris O’Nan alleged that the affair took place on school grounds.
While Amanda O’Nan, has denied the accusation, Holmes decided to resign in lieu of submitting to an internal affairs investigation.
