<p>A Phoenix man who thought his wife was having an affair killed her, two of their young daughters and her alleged secret lover, police said on Friday.<br />
Police say Austin Smith has admitted killing his wife, two of his young daughters, and another man, all because he believed his wife was having an affair. He reportedly, also shot and injured two other people.<br />
Smith, 30, was arrested and charged on suspicion of four counts of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated assault.<br />

Officers made a grim discovery when they visited Smith&#8217;s family home on Thursday night, where they found his wife, Dasia Patterson, 29, and their 5-year-old daughter, Nasha Smith, dead from gunshot wounds.<br />
Their 7-year-old daughter, Mayan Smith, died from apparent blunt-force trauma, but the couple&#8217;s 3-year-old daughter was found uninjured under a bed at the family&#8217;s home.<br />
‘It is my understanding that for whatever reason he elected not to shoot her,’ Maricopa County Police Sgt. Tommy Thompson said.</p>

Inside the home, officers found the body of 46-year-old Ron Freeman, as well as another man and a woman who had been shot and wounded at the residence. Police revealed the 47-year-old woman was in critical condition while the male survivor suffered non-life threatening injuries.<br />
Authorities say the suspect killed Freeman because he believed the man was having a romantic affair with his wife.<br />
According to a police affidavit, the victim, described as a family friend, told Smith ‘he was crazy’ before he fatally shot him.<br />
Witnesses claim Smith then reloaded his gun and ‘shot his victim several more times’ as he lay lifeless on the ground.<br />
He then is said to have left the room and returned with a rifle. As friends and family of the victim tried to attend to Freeman, Smith told police he saw them a ‘co-conspirators’ with his wife and shot at them.</div>

The suspect told detectives during an interview that he believed ‘in God&#8217;s eyes it was all right for him to deal with someone in this manner who had been involved in adultery or an extramarital affair,’ Thompson said.<br />
Smith also reportedly told police he killed his seven-year-old daughter because she was crying and she shouldn’t be ‘weeping for the wicked’.<br />
He said his ‘other two daughters reminded him of his wife whom he considered wicked in the eyes of God.’<br />

The court document released later in the evening described Smith punching the eldest daughter, throwing her to the ceiling and onto the floor, then striking the child&#8217;s head several times with a baseball bat.<br />
‘Muslims don&#8217;t move like that either, so that&#8217;s an excuse,&#8221; said Patterson&#8217;s cousin, who did not want to be identified, to Fox 18. ‘Muslims don&#8217;t move like that. They&#8217;re kids.’<br />
It&#8217;s not yet clear why Smith decided to spare the life of his youngest daughter.</p>

Thompson described the scene at the apartment complex as chaotic, with firefighters treating victims while authorities did not initially know the shooter&#8217;s whereabouts.<br />

Neighbors, who wished to remain anonymous, told <a class="class" href="https://www.azfamily.com/news/phoenix-man-accused-of-killing-wife-daughters-says-god-told/article_3b82bff4-5cd7-11e9-9f1c-1b9ff7e5c229.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">AZ.com</a> that the family seemed just like any other.<br />
‘Never any domestic violence, no cops coming all the time, nothing like that. It was just like a regular family.’<br />
‘It&#8217;s stuck in my head. They didn&#8217;t deserve what happened to them.’<br />
Smith’s Bail has been set at $2 million, according to court records. A Maricopa County Superior Court sent Smith&#8217;s case to the local public defender&#8217;s office. But no specific attorney had been assigned to him by Friday evening.</p>
