The beatdown in a parking lot in the city’s Oak Cliff section left her with a broken wrist and a concussion.

The victim Muhlaysia Booker, told police that she accidentally backed into another vehicle while driving in the Royal Crest Apartments parking lot in the 3500 block of Wilhurt Avenue between 5 and 6 p.m. Friday.
The driver of the other vehicle, who is named as a suspect in Thomas’ arrest warrant affidavit but has not been arrested, said he ran the victim off the road to keep her from fleeing.
Edward Dominic Thomas, a 29-year-old felon, is accused of repeatedly punching Booker while calling her derogatory names, according to the arrest warrant.
Booker, told police the other driver pointed a gun at her and refused to let her leave unless she paid for the damage.
As a crowd gathered, someone offered Thomas $200 to beat Booker, the affidavit said.
A video recording of the incident showed that Thomas put on gloves, then walked over to Booker and punched her multiple times.
Police say another suspect who has been identified but not arrested repeatedly stomped on Booker’s face.

Two days after the mob violence that left the city’s mayor “extremely angry,” Edward Dominic Thomas, 29, was arrested and indicted on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Thomas, who has been released from jail after posting bail, was offered $200 by someone in a crowd that gathered after the car accident to beat Booker unless she paid for the damage, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
“This case is certainly disturbing,” police Lt. Vincent Weddington told reporters last month. “The video, I’m sure, shocks the conscience of anyone who looks at this video.”
Thomas later admitted attacking Booker, but denied yelling homophobic slurs during the beat down, KXAS reports.
Thomas was remanded in the Dallas County Jail, with his bail set $75,000. His list of priors in Dallas County include convictions for family violence assault, burglary and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

However police said, there was no evidence connecting Thomas to Booker’s slaying, which is not currently being probed as a hate crime.
Investigators have previously said more arrests were expected in connection with last month’s attack.
But civil rights attorney Lee Merritt told the Dallas Morning News that Booker’s murder is troubling, especially for minorities who may be fearful to report alleged hate crimes.
“There is a legitimate concern that the community doesn’t take seriously,” Merritt said.
