<div>A Chicago-area hospital says it regrets sending a bill to the family of a baby boy who died about seven weeks after attackers cut him from his mother&#8217;s womb.<br />
The family&#8217;s lawyer says Advocate Christ Medical Center in suburban Oak Lawn has sent some $300,000 in bills for Yovanny Lopez&#8217;s care.<br />
Bills list him as being the &#8216;Figueroa Boy&#8217; and were sent to 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa&#8217;s husband, Yovany Lopez, <a class="class" href="https://chicago.cbslocal.com/2019/07/18/hospital-bills-ochoa-family-for-figueroa-boy-after-baby-cut-from-mothers-womb/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">CBS 2</a> reports.<br />
Lopez family&#8217;s attorney, Frank Avila, called the hospital&#8217;s action &#8216;atrocious&#8217; and says it must stop.<br />

</span><span style="color: var(--color-text);">One bill is dated June 3, two weeks after Figueroa was charged with the death of the two. Yovanny died of anoxic encephalopathy on June 14, according to an autopsy.<br />
</span><span style="color: var(--color-text);"><span style="color: var(--color-text);">&#8216;Which is when the brain tissue is deprived of oxygen,&#8217; said Assistant State&#8217;s Attorney James Murphy. </span></span><span style="color: var(--color-text);">The hospital said in a statement at least one bill was inadvertently sent in error.<br />
It didn&#8217;t specify how the family was being billed and cited patient privacy in declining further comment.<br />

</span><span style="color: var(--color-text);"><span style="color: var(--color-text);">On Thursday, Cook County prosecutors announced the latest charge against 46-year-old Clarisa Figueroa and her daughter, 24-year-old Desiree Figueroa: murdering the baby.<br />
</span></span>The baby’s death was ruled a homicide. &#8211; An autopsy revealed that Yovanny died of anoxic encephalopathy. “Which is when the brain tissue is deprived of oxygen,” said Assistant State’s Attorney James Murphy.<br />
<span style="color: var(--color-text);">Prosecutors said the mother-daughter team of womb raiders strangled Ochoa-Lopez and then cut the baby boy, who was later named Yovanni Jadiel Lopez by his family, from her womb.</span><br />
<span style="color: var(--color-text);">The women were already charged with first-degree murder in the April killing of 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, whose body was discovered days after Clarisa went to a hospital with the gravely ill newborn, claiming it was hers.<br />
</span><span style="color: var(--color-text);">A Cook County judge ruled no bond for either woman.<br />
</span>Attorneys for both women filed a motion for a gag order in the case asking that the Ochoa family’s attorney and other spokespeople not speak to reporters about the case. That issue will be discussed at the next hearing on July 25.<br />
